The at bats that Pearson and Brown had against that guy looked pretty comfortable but there is a pretty big drop off between those two guys and Reeves/Beck. Taking the bat out of Stanfields hands is a tough one. He gets on it flips the lineup over to one of the best hitters in college baseball and then we just need Frey to keep it going and give Jones a chance.

Any decision he made was going to have an almost 0% chance of working against that dude.

It didn’t cost us the series. I would imagine if there was more on the line, Stanfield would have hit.

If Stanny and Bras went up there and looked terrible while striking out yall would be roasting Jay for leaving 2 lefties on the bench.

I can guarantee you that not a single person would be asking why we didn’t sit our best SEC hitter for a guy most casual fans have never heard of.

Lmao there’s no way that guy actually said that. Like everyone would be sitting here going “why did we let Stanfield hit with Beck available???”

RH hitters were not seeing the ball. LH hitters will see it better and longer than RH hitters will. It's common sense people.

That’s great and all but we didn’t have a left hander who could hit. I bet there were a bunch of left handed guys in the stands too, so you think they would get a hit there?

Beck had 18hrs last year. Have no issue with the move.

Legitimate question, how is that relevant?

I liked the idea of Larson, but still questioned going to a guy like Beck.

What inning was it that they pinched hit Larson? I didn’t like such a cold bat (how many ABs all season?) in that moment with only 1 out and the game getting tighter. Maybe I should get more familiar with Beck. I guess I have Larson bias from last season over Beck.

Learn the game. Jay has forgotten more about baseball than you will ever know about baseball. Freakin goofball

No, it means lefties were seeing him better and it was pretty obvious. The guy had a weird delivery from the right and had the righties looking foolish. Then Pearson (lefty) sees him well enough to walk, and Brown (lefty) laces a triple.

Well, the lefty (Reaves) whiffed just before he PH'd Beck for Stanfield.

I like CJJ. I expect better out of him than the 9th inning blunders.

I will defer to Johnson on this. As a former Litttle League manager, I know how difficult these decisions can be.
