It's the stupidity of the LSU fan base.

A whole lot of stupid in this thread. Take Eyanson away from 25 and they may not win it all. Take Anderson away from 25 and I can almost guarantee you they don’t win it all. Injuries took away arguably their best pitcher this year and the next best guy for multiple weeks.
Injuries took away arguably key players and most importantly pitching was the biggest single difference - not all but damn.
Stanfield led the team in hitting in the SEC just last season and he missed significant time to the point he never got his timing back.
Then there’s Brown’s injury.
I mean people on here do not understand how thin there is between winning 15-17 games and winning 9.
I don’t understand why some of you can’t see the multiple causes that aligned to get this consequence.
Yes they were short in position players and no they didn’t have enough to win it all. That’s all Jay cares about when he says “short in a lot of areas”.
They ultimately put the bull pen in tough spots and frankly Rizzy, Noot and Williams regressed likely by their own doing.
That’s what I’m most disappointed about.

quote:It depends why the season went that way. If you lose all three starting pitchers to injury in February, you don't do anything.
1) IF, IF '27 is the same as '26, what then?
If everyone is healthy and the pitching staff blows and guys get worse, you reevaluate the pitching coach.
If the pitching staff is healthy and the offense is awful, you evaluate why that is.
It's not as simple as "if we're bad we have to fire everyone!"
quote:Because the two times Jay Johnson has had an early exit while at LSU, he has made the necessary changes and won a title the next year.
2) Why does someone think '27 will be significantly better than '26?
This season was the anomaly. On top of the portal timing, you also had:
1. Less funds than contenders;
2. Horrific draft luck;
3. Underwhelming portal class;
4. More bad baseball luck than I can remember;
5. Injuries to all three starting pitchers; and
6. Injuries to 6 starting position players, including some of your best players.
It's really easy to look at 2026 and say "every thing that could have possibly gone wrong, went wrong." Statistically speaking, not even taking the general ability of LSU baseball or Jay or Yeskie, that won't happen again.
quote:It will take a LOT more negative data to show he's "tending way worse than CPM."
But if the data shows he's trending way worse than CPM, then what?
Paul basically finished his career with 4 straight poor seasons here. Travel in '18, upset in '19, would have been worse than '25 in '20, and were gifted a regional appearance in '21. Then the 2022 team didn't have a single SEC caliber starting pitcher.
Jay has also won two titles with two very different teams taking very different roster building approaches. He works infinitely harder than PM did. The staff is already on multiple guys and the portal doesn't open for a week.

That assface Geauldilox is probably in ICU recovering from a stroke upon hearing this news.

lol there’s like 35 players on the team. If uou csnt handle a couple injuries then the whole team you recruited isn’t very good.
Anyone making excuses for this team is an LSU astroturfer. There are no excuses.
The $3.30 million man had a 3-9 season equivalent football season. If the football coach did that he’s fired.

Those pitching staffs were light years better than what is on the current staff. Comparing Apples to Oranges. Go find 5 more Anderson/Eyasons then.
While that is certainly true, he still has a valid point. We didn't have Skenes for any of those CWS championship games. We need better pitching. But we DON'T necessarily need "5 Skenes'" as the poster he was replying to stated. Furthermore. Yeskie was the pitching coach last season when we didn't have Skenes. So he's already proven he can do it without him. We just need to be better in the portal this year as opposed to last.

Hey Joey, I have 10 grand that says you are wrong.

He had no choice. Nobody is signing up to coach on his sinking ship. He will be fired next year after LSU finishes in the bottom half of the SEC again. And if he’s not, hopefully all NIL funding at the very least is pulled
Exaggerate much?

Now you are just outwardly lying.
The LSU homer bots are out of control. I forgot but reading your post history you were also one of Brian Kelly’s biggest supporters.
LSU is the freaking Dodgers/Mets/Yankees of college baseball and you are claiming they don’t have the funds?
GTFO…

Because all most of the "fans" on these threads want is to fire coaches. They had a bad season. Get over it, and let's see how 2027 fares. So tired of seeing comments that say, he had Anderson/Eyanson, he had Skenes/Crews/etc.. take away those guys blah blah blah. If you take away any teams star players they wouldn't be as good. That's what made the damn teams good.

If Yeskie sucks again, then Jay might be on the hot seat with his next pitching coach hire
