I sure hope you are not implying CJJ gives a damn what the feeling of poster are on this message board and damn sure isn't feeling any heat coming from a bunch of overly emotional posters.

Precisely the opposite.
I am saying very clearly that JJ doesn’t govern a damn about posters on this board.

He obviously needs first round talent which many coaches do. Curious what quality talent Bertman had for each natty.

But let’s not act like a little luck came our way getting Coastal Carolina in one of the finals.

What about 2023? Probably the toughest bracket in recent memory. We also played 3 games to get to Coastal in the finals, 2 against arguably the most talented team in the country last year

Plenty of it. His last title team had 6 future major leaguers (Hawpe, Theriot, Fontenot, Tallet, Hodges, Jorgensen), including the starting pitcher in the title game (Tallet) and MOP of the CWS (Hodges). Brad Cresse was also one of the best players in college baseball.

He’s the Eli Manning of college baseball coaches. Immensely overrated based on a couple runs with extreme talent

I keep asking and no one ever answers me.....

Who are these coaches winning national titles in college baseball WITHOUT extreme talent?

Jay Johnson is one of 2 coaches with multiple national titles. If he is mediocre then there isnt an elite coach in all of college baseball.

140 game sample size almost.

That’s not a huge sample size in baseball. It’s 4.5 seasons. Winning a national title in two of them and being in regional finals two others is not mediocre however much you want it to be

People like to say we only won because we had a couple generational talents. We had to beat three teams that have like a combined 12 guys already in the majors. It was probably the most difficult road to a championship any team has had in Omaha.

Nope.
Coach O never had success outside of 2019.
JJ has been to the CWS 3 times in the last 6 years. Winning 2 of the last 3 national titles.

Year one, he inheritedthe team with one pitcher that was basically a midweek starter and made the tournament. Year two he wins a national title. Year three he takes a team to the brink of a super regional as it was surging and only a drop fly ball kept them from hosting a super regional in Baton Rouge. Year four he takes a team and wins another national title. I mean, yes among all of that he lost probably 30 players or more to the draft alone. So all those roster turnovers all those losses they do add up.
Then just this season, he lost his number two guy early in SEC play and now yesterday he scratched his number one. You don’t win titles without really good pitching.
You can’t just look at a won _loss Record and he’ll tell you the whole story.
He had to deal with NIL, other teams, investing, more money than LSU, roster limit, etc. more than any coach in LSU’s history ever had to deal with. You can’t fricking compare any other coach before him including Skip to what he’s had to do. In this era winning two titles in three years is unheard of.
I’ll take the guy that spent a three finals winning two of them and came within an eyelash of winning his third period over any other coach in the country.

lol weren’t you making post in ‘24 that you wished LSU baseball was like Arkansas? Gtfo of here.

Yeah, it would be nice to be towards the top of the SEC year in and year out while winning NCs too.

Not winning it one year then taking a massive fricking step back the next.

Arkansas doesn’t do that.

That’s funny. I missed O’s 2nd title at LSU and BCS run at Ole Myth.

Anyone who compares Jay to O is a fricking retard whose opinion is irrelevant.

I agree with all of this. Jay 2 of the biggest moves in LSU baseball history.

1. Paul Skenes
2. Anthony Eyanson

He brought in Skenes to get a pretty good group of kids from PM. He brought in Anthony to go with Anderson. Imo, no title without those two portal moves. Those two years had enough hitting and decent defense. It all comes down to pitching in baseball. If you have a good team with experience esp. on defense and hitting thats all fine but I wanna know when it co.es down to it, who is gonna impose their will from the mound. Skenes , Eyanson and Anderson had that X factor.

I actually love the energy of this thread. As unreasonable as it is, it puts little Jay on notice if the little guy ever reads it with his little eyes. He’s done his fair share of whining about money and resources and now he’s gotten what he needs. 2026 is a wash, but after that time to deliver brether. Don’t like it? Sorry brether, go lateral or step down to a shitty inferior college program or boring arse soulless MLB franchise. LSU is glad to keep you if you are able to sustain a winning and elite program, but irrespective, will cook with or without you.

That’s the facts. Need to earn that pay check every year! Last year he did …this year he did NOT!

Look back to that super regional series against Arkansas Little Rock! He doesn’t pull that out and the heat on his seat would be 1000 degrees right now!

He has more titles at lsu than the previous 2 decades combined... so no, we won't. There will never be another run like lsu in the 90s or USC in the 70s. There are too many programs dumping just as much money into college baseball for that to happen.
