Yep totally agree when you go deeper into the post season everything little miscue could be fatal. Pitching is vital as you have said.

He needs to have a much more talented team than the other guys.
He didn't have a "much more talented team" than any of the teams he beat in the CWS in 2023, and he didn't have a more talented team than at least 1 if not 2 of the teams he beat in the CWS in 2025.

He doesn’t have Skip’s in-game instincts, and it’s not even close.
Skip didn't have the in-game competition Jay has, in the dugout or on the field, and it's not even remotely close.

the rant can’t make up its mind. Paul was consistent but shite the bed constantly in June meanwhile Jay wins titles when he has a squad only problem is it takes him every other year to build an elite team.

Paul was great in his time but overcorrected to the results of the 2013 CWS. He then slowly started to fade. He was also a gigantic a-hole and did not retire in grace.

I'd still take him over DVH, who he stuffed in a locker on numerous occasions. Would never take him over Jay.

Mainieri wasn’t dealing with the Wild West transfer era. Kids actually stayed and developed back then. Not all of them, obviously, but way more than you have now.

I don’t know anything about recruiting but I do know before the transfer rules were changed it seemed like LSU utilized jr college transfers a lot. Even in the Skip era.

No reason to go Juco when you can go take players from D1 rosters.
