And that doesn't include the extra stuff that LSU will offer either
I’m willing to bet it includes everything that will make up his guaranteed pay and excludes whatever postseason or winning incentives.

Mainieri’s base pay was 350K plus 500K supplemental media and 275K supplemental equipment, for the generally accepted total of 1.125 following his last raise/extension.

Then he could receive an additional 320K based on post season and academic accomplishments that was not part of the 1.125.

Expecting us to pay him less than PM is just not reasonable rn. Contracts are rising. New precedents are being set. If we’re not out ahead of the change we’ll get left behind. We’re not value shopping here. Want somebody of quality, you better pay up. It’s likely Johnson was getting offers all over the place. His current salary at Arizona is meaningless.

Link where he was set to make over 1 mill?

His buyout was $1 mill

We don't know LSU's extra incentives just the base salary

Incorrect

His term sheet is total LSU comp

-basically he made a tad under a million at Zona and will be making 1.2 million at LSU

We will have to wait and see then because the report in the link just specifically says his BASE is $1.2 mill

But your post kind answers my point if Maineri got $~300k on top of his base then we can assume Johnson will as well

So $850k at Arizona and $1.5mill at LSU

So almost double....

Right, but don't you think Johnson's Arizona salary figures were structured the same way? Where does that additional 350 number come from that others are quoting?

He supposedly had shares in the UA’s Longevity Fund granted this past year, but that was likely a one-time grant, who knows what further grants, if any, he was going to get in future years. I wonder if that grant was subject to vesting too.

Link?

It says his base is $1.2 million and could be up to 1.4 (but I'm focusing on 1.2)

So he doesn't get any incentives at all?

The extra 350 he got at Arizona wasn’t performance based, it would be the equivalent of what made up Mainieri’s 1.125.

So 1.2 to 1.4 compared to 850.

You think the tweet in the OP provides full details on his contractual arrangement?

20K for winning the SEC 100K for winning the national championship, according to the advocate.

You stated earlier
"Then he could receive an additional 320K based on post season and academic accomplishments that was not part of the 1.125."

Is that's $320k also being applied to Johnson's base or is that a part of it already?

Absolutely terrible contract but Woody loves spending money.

You're not considering the expectations that come with that salary. Clearly, LSU expects him to compete among the most elite head coaches.

What I’m telling you is that when people refer to Mainieri’s LSU pay they referred to the 1.125 million. Call it his “base” or “guaranteed” pay. That guaranteed pay was made up of his base, media, and equipment pay. This will be what makes up Johnson’s 1.2 -1.4.

Then they both have/had performance incentives on top of that, which isn’t included when you generally talk about a coach’s “pay”. Nobody has ever said Mainieri makes 1.4 million here.

I assume camp money sweetens the deal quite a bit.
