Not linking the tweet, but your local sports reporter who covers LSU baseball has reported that Coleman will be throwing a bullpen session today. Would we see him this season potentially? Was that mentioned as a possibility?

Man if we could just utilize him during tournament time when arms get thin, that would be huge.

Johnson said in his interview “that he was throwing breaking balls today and thats great for him”. That is the extent of what he said.

I don’t mean to be Debby downer, but the first bullpen still means lots of time to work back to full strength. It’s just a slow process rebuilding an arm from scratch. Injuries happen when things happen too quickly. So a bullpen today means he may not throw at all the next 3 or 4 just to manage to soreness. Then a few days of tossing then another bullpen in a week. To be back at full strength he needs to be able to throw a pen (about 30-40 pitches) with no soreness at all after 48 hours. The shoulder and core/lower body strength will be the main focuses.

I imagine you don’t throw breaking balls till pretty late in the recovery process

Regardless of if he gets any meaningful outings in late conference or post season play or not, it will just be nice to see him throwing from the mound again instead of just tossing the football around in the bullpen pre-game.

Great to see that his recovery is staying on track and that the kid is getting closer to coming back. Will be huge once he returns that CJJ has brought in a few more LHPs and that he is not just one of a couple southpaws on staff.

Coleman has the talent & potential to be our LH version of G. Edwards.
Throw high-pressure, multiple innings. Let's hope he comes back at his pace ready to GEAUX.

My guess is maybe they are eyeing up our last few mid-week games to get him some mid-week action in to see if he can give you anything headed into postseason play.

Apr 25 - Nicholls
May 2 - Southeastern
May 9 - NW State
May 16 - McNeese

f he can get through an inning here and there in those maybe they feel confident in having a 4th LHP for the postseason we can turn to.

Quick, someone name the last season we had 4 LHP worthy enough to pitch in a postseason game
