Sure there is a next man up, losing Reed hurts but it’s not the first time a team has lost a starter and still had a good season. We are not replacing a first team all American, between chest and miller, hopefully they keep improving and become the impact players we think they are capable of being. Have some faith bro

Heard the news this afternoon, but didn’t say anything because I was hoping it was incorrect.

The other guys can probably pick up the slack defensively and on the glass (LSU might be slightly better on those fronts), but there is no other frontcourt player who has anything close to his offensive skill set.

The defense was already carrying the team so far this season. It will have to shoulder more of the load now. Fountain has to be better (he can, but he’s not playing well now). Miller will have to develop a bit quicker than the path he was on.

He's redshirting, he's nowhere close to being able to play at this level, was just a last second we got a roster spot grab.

Circumstances change. If he can give you even just 4-6 decent minutes per game in spot duty you use it

I feel bad for the kid, I felt like he was finally comming into his own and his 3 years of dedication was paying off.

This is by far the worst part. Kid was clearly turning a corner with his game & seemed like confidence and game between the ears was catching up to the physique.

Would be cool to have him back next year, but I’m bummed. That’s said, it could be worse — this could’ve happened last year or we could’ve not had our deepest frontcourt in years this season.

Reed was missed early in that FL ST game when #12 kept backing down Collins and Chest to the goal and get an easy basket. Reed had the body to counter that physicality. He wouldn’t have scored that much on Reed. Now Chest started getting lower and being more physical on defense later on second half and made it more difficult for #12 to score so maybe he learned something last night.

Alabama just lost their 3rd leading scorer and best 3 point shooter for the season. Unfortunately, injuries happen. You have to adjust and overcome

No doubt

But the silver lining might be getting Robert m
Miller the baptism by fire. He had a really good second half last night

Oh man. I hate that for Reed. He’s been a joy to watch all season :(

That's where Tre'Dez would help tremendously with his football strength. Especially as he was training to block DEs. I don't think anyone is going to push him around. If we face another similar behemoth, we'll have an answer.

I think you put R Miller back in the starting lineup. Need to protect Collins as he had a season-ender last year and got lucky this year. Someone needs to work with R Miller every day on low post moves.

Collins can eat a lot of time coming off the bench and Fountain needs to step up.

I think we will go longer stretches with a small lineup of Sears, Bailey, Carter, V. Miller, and Chest. Maybe Chest's ferocity on the glass can balance the lack of height.

I was just thinking how this team reminded me of some of Brown's teams from the late 70s. Macklin lost a whole year but that team did have Scales who became the low post scorer and had Cook and others for low post defense and rebounding.
