Gaines is no threat whatsoever on offense and Cook brought offense and defense...

Idk why people are downvoting.. Gaines shot 22% from the field and averaged 2.5 points a game in 13 minutes.
Cook shot 45% from the field and averaged 3.1 points in 7 minutes.
Gaines is good defensively but couldn’t shoot to save his life

wade needs to change his offensive and get things done like baylor. cook at point guard, gaines at the two, and the transfer at the three
i would have cook and gaines working on those handles, speed, and shooting for two weeks straight. get leblanc with a jumper from the elbow and have him driving quicker to the basket for the new way of playing. if days would come back he is my four. everyone would be shooting the right way

Dude is a witch on the defensive end but you would need mass quantities of beer if getting his shot blocked going to the cupp was a drinking game!

Cook had a good game against a horrible Vanderbilt squad and people are obsessed with him. The guy was ALWAYS going to be a 4-year role player. He clearly wants to start and promise playing time, but LSU is trying to win

What? He was the #2 prospect in Louisiana. Louisiana produces a ton of talent. You're acting like he was a scrub. I love Gaines' potential, but even though he played significantly more and played at some of the same times that Cook did against certain teams, Cook still averaged slightly more points and his shooting % more than doubled Gaines' % from the field and from 3-point land.

I saw enough of Cook in limited action to know that he could become a great player with his speed on offense and defense along with his ball handling skills. And to be honest, we need more 3-4 year players because we only lost to Michigan because of their depth with all the seniors they had.

Gaines is a difference-maker on D. He is excellent there, but his offensive numbers were really bad and he turned the ball over a lot. His high school shooting % was really good though, so I'm hoping we'll see a lot of growth there in his 2nd season.

Did you want Gaines to come in and put up 10 shots?

It certainly wouldn't have hurt against Michigan if he could have gone 5-10 shooting.

I'v said it before, this transfer portal will change college sports big time....too easy for an student athletes to de-commit if things aren't going their way.

Just like free agency.
At the end of every season, we never know who is on the team for next season.

One year of a guard that can’t shoot & doesn’t pass over 3 years of development for Cook is not exactly logical but ok Willy

I guess I just disagree, Cook was a true freshman and showed some real promise IMO. He got after it on defense, and to me showed flashes of being a true pg, one that can pass and run an offense later in his carrier. Pinson looks more like a SF and I'm not really sure where gains fits in the starting rotation , he seems like he would be best suited as an energy guy off the bench unless he can better develop his 3.
