Season is over. Dude is thinking of himself, as he should, to prep for MLB draft.

You can check my post history. I’ve criticized Moscona plenty.

Maybe he can come back in time to hit a walkoff in the CWS

Lol what? Lindor, Holliday, and Corbin Carroll all had that surgery this season alone

We now also have an explanation on all the "Jake Brown looks lost right now" comments. Not that they were wrong to point it out by any means. But this is a reason that would have been happening.

How do these keep getting broken? Had never even heard of a hamate bone until Dickinson broke his last year. Sheesh.

The current speculation on the general rise in this injury is training methods players are using to generate more bat speed. I don't know about Jake's case specifically, but that's what was talked about with the 3 big ones for young major leaguers right before spring training.

There are also people that continually mention videos games every time this comes up, but I haven't been able to tell if they're serious or if it's just a joke I'm not getting.

I’m pretty sure that’s the injury Warren Morris was coming off of when he hit the walkoff in the CWS.

When did he break it?

He's looked lost the last few weeks. Was it this past weekend or a few weeks ago?

complete speculation: He probably broke it some time around the tennessee series, but was going to gut it out if we had won games in the next two. He's now been given permission (not literally) to not have to gut it out anymore.

Thank you, this would make sense. Need to evaluate the training methods, apparently.

That makes sense.

Hate it happened to him. I figured he was just slumping because Jay mentioned on multiple occasions they were making little tweaks to his swing and approach. This never popped into my mind as a possibility.

many have speculated it is due to hitting heavy balls, along with over all lack of physical prep(the gaming that project mentioned) of the hands. aka softer hands overall due to overall less free play as kids. some speculate its the grip with many gripping bat lower and some think its because of increased pitching velo

im not sure anyone knows for sure though

imo prolly a combo of things and the players generating more bat speed for their size than ever before.

its also why so many are switching to the Axe handle style bats
