Jake brown hasn’t ruled out a return but we would have to make a regional

Come on LSU make it happen for Jake

It's doable. You can't ask for much more (in this position) than knowing what you need to do to make the tournament. They just need to go out there and do it.

If he could come back healthy with the way these young guys are hitting the ball now, especially 1-5, he would become even more lethal. Would love to see this team now with a healthy Brown and Stanfield.

I mean, he wouldn't be able to do much at the plate.

Dickinson basically could only bunt and slap hit in Omaha last year and this would be on a shorter recovery timetable for Brown.

Should have quoted the most important part of the article

quote:

No moment exemplified this new reality better than last Sunday against South Carolina, when he got ejected in the seventh inning for “trying to back up our guys.”

“Their pitcher was talking to our dugout and doing all this different type of stuff,” Brown said in an exclusive interview with The Advocate. “… I guess I said some stuff that the umpire didn’t think that I should have said.”

Dickinson broke his hand during the regionals and didn’t have surgery on it until after the season. Brown broke his and had surgery over 2 weeks ago as of today. He’d be over a month post surgery by the time regional play begins. What are you talking about?

The injury is a month recovery time. Griffey broke the same bone back in 96 and missed 3.5 weeks and homered his first game back. By the time regionals roll around, it will be 4.5 weeks post surgery for Brown. He wouldn’t be playing with the injury like Dickinson did in Omaha.

Yea basically just a pain tolerance issue although the power might be a little zapped for 2-3 months

I know I speak for the majority of Tiger fans when I say, we'd love to have Jake back for one more year. After the year we just went through, next year has to be better...

We'd love him to come back, but there is 0.0% chance it will happen.

The 5 in 5 deal the NCAA is looking into could change things, they wouldn’t lose leverage after their junior year anymore, it could especially help with players like Milam

That makes me feel better about him potentially reaching 20 homers if he came back

Obviously it’ll be a longshot but if Griffey can homer in his first AB then brown could do it should he come back

Thought this would only affect new players coming in, not existing players.

Granted they would all probably just file a lawsuit and get courts to agree with them somewhere

I actually wonder if we got into a tight spot where we had to win the SECT to get in if he would just try and play in that; like say we are 13-17 or worse going into the SECT

It's also not really true that players would no longer lose leverage. Every year older they are when they start pro ball, their career earning potential drops considerably. For the ones who stand to make the most, that's absolutely part of the calculation. For the ones that are just looking for any way to scrape into pro baseball, they don't have leverage anyway regardless of the year they go pro because there are a million other guys just like them.

That's the incentive we need.
