Feel like this fanbase has gotten to this weird place where a lot of you are almost conditioned to look at every game and go "man, I don't feel great about this one."

We assembled one of the best rosters in cfb this offseason. Fans, coaches and media agree with this.

We have one of the best (if not the best) coaching staffs in the country. Other coaches know this and so do fans / media when they put their feelings about Lane aside.

This team had a lot of new pieces and the most important one was coming off an injury and didn't get a real offseason to make this offense mesh before going into Clemson.

Yeah, we lost to ole miss on the road, by one score in our 3rd game with this staff / roster. Who wouldn't agree we're already substantially better just since then?

This team was set up to be elite and by all accounts, we're headed in that direction. Embrace it.

We should go into Kentucky and win by a couple scores. That should be the standard for this squad.

Here comes the crowd that thinks you’re going to jinx the team by being positive and that all of us message board posters need to keep a level head and only post in coachspeak on tRant so our team doesn’t get the big head

Defense is elite. O-line & QB are not. Thats not a knock, btw.

let's win in a tough environment before we consider ourselves elite...and be competitive against Alabama and Texas (and win at least one of them) before we think highly of ourselves...our best win is Clemson or A&M?

I feel confident about our line play for the first time since 2019

Agree with Chicken.
If we win by 28 against at UK, those thoughts might creep in.
But we will have problems with good QB's that can run. Most do and I'm not ready to say SL10 is at top level. He is learning to stay in the pocket and gaining confidence there. So we need that to imporve and the OL to improve.

Respect you, Chicken but hate this attitude / outlook.

I've watched us go out there 4 times and dominate the other team. Both sides of the ball. The 5th, we had a bad half and still came back to make it a game in the end.

I"m supposed to wait till 8 or 9 games into the season to decide if a team is really good? No. I can have an eye test over a 5 game sample size and still get there.

Why is Georgia, Indiana, Notre Dame etc. allowed to be viewed as elite? Who have they beaten again?

Sure, we'll know more about ourselves after Bama/Texas but I look at what everyone has done with what we've seen so far. And LSU plays really good football 95% of the time. I don't think most schools can say that, regardless of their competition.

And I hate the attitude towards thinking Clemson and a&m wins don't matter. Both of those teams have NFL talent on them. And if they do suck, we sure beat them like they suck for 4 quarters. Which is what an elite team is supposed to do.

Kentucky has grit and will be another measuring stick. Lane Kiffin and his team are giving off that who's next vibe. We'll see!

Teams gotta win a road game before you can begin to think they are elite.

I think we win right around the number at KY. Something like 27-17. Hopefully I’m wrong & we win going away

Elite teams dont shite their pants because they are playing a road game in a 50,000 seat stadium.

Thinking back to the 2019 season, we did not roll into every game thinking we would win easy, at least not until after the Bama game. (Florida? Auburn?) And that was probably the most elite team *of all time*. It's healthy not to think our shite doesn't stink.

The same can be said for several teams in the SEC. Which great team has Bama faced? I feel our 8 pt loss in the most hostile environment this year so far, is the toughest test yet… Bama’s 1st test is this weekend.

Neither of them (Bama /UGA) has faced any one tough team or environment.

Texas has faced OSU. That was a quality win. Texas has faced the toughest teams so far.

I'll think they are elite when they beat a top 10 team handily. They were not elite in the only game that could have showed that they were.

I don’t think calling this team elite is crazy at all. The bigger question is whether they can prove it against the best teams on the schedule

We're first in rushing TDs. 13th in the country in passing yards. Third in yards/game. They could improve in spots but they're doing pretty good.

To the OPs point. I'll break my conditioning when my conditioning is broken. IE. We go on the road to Kentucky and Auburn and handle business convincingly. That won't hurt.....
