Remember that time when Les had LSU in the title game a few years back and lost to that better Bama team?

Funny how every one of those coaches came from a different era where just about half the country actually tried at baseball.

So that's the reaso?. It's a different era. So does that mean PM hasn't adapted, changed, or modified his coaching of players? Is that why he's losing?

Wow! That's embarrassing.

Words is hard.

He's obviously getting another year if we cant get out regionals this year, but he really needs to do something next year if so.
This, Paul has earned the benefit of the doubt but the results are starting to get damming.

He’s underachieving with superior talent. That can’t be argued. The injury excuse is played out as well. We have the same issue every single year and we can’t get it fixed.

If he's back next season, a NEW strength and conditioning coordinator is a must. To many injuries, players with soreness, etc.

Like miles at LSU? Think before you post.

Manieri is the 14th winningest coach in the history of college baseball. Miles doesn't even have 150 wins.

Miles went 5 years without a major bowl game. It's been two years since LSU baseball was playing for a national championship.

If LSU baseball has three straight years of sub 40 win seasons and 2 and 3 seeds in the tournament then it's analogous to Miles.

This is a sorely missed point on this board. I love Skip and he would still be a great coach today, but he would not have near as many victories or CWS appearances if he coached in this environment. In addition to all of the other advantages Skip had at LSU (namely that most other schools didn't fund their baseball team sufficiently), just getting to Omaha was easier. He just had to get through one 6-team regional (usually in Baton Rouge) and he had his team in Omaha.

Just like John Wooden at UCLA....he would still be a great coach today, but he would not have near the hardware now that he had then. There are too many other schools that are properly funding the sport. It's not just handful that provide real competition.

People thinking this is a tough season shows you how good LSU baseball fans have had it. Is it a good season right now? No but it isn’t a bad season either. It’s middle of the road right now. The team plays inconsistent and there are certain reasons for that. I agree as LSU baseball fans this year isn’t up to standard that we should expect and things need to start improving. I think this team has a small run in them to close out this season and they will likely host a regional and then who knows after that. Win the regional and go to Supers where they can be unpredictable and you could end up with a good matchup.

I would like to let the season fully play out before making any decisions regarding major changes for the future of the program.

Florida "Bullpen Guy"

This is what frustrates me most about 2019 and it's not PM. Finally have a deep pitching staff (other than lack of lefties) and everyone's arms start falling off, then position player issues, etc. It's been additional challenges every week it seems. Some years are just lit with bad karma, this one with a pretty damn strong dose of it. Starting pitching has to consistently put up quality starts or it's not going to change much.

Wrong. He started against TCU 4 days prior. They weren’t going to start him on 4 days rest

You're probably right. They probably would have started him on four days rest, but he actually would only have had three. I checked the box score, and he threw 113 pitches four days earlier.

Lange would have been on four days rest after throwing 115. I think Lange would have started, and Faedo would have been used in relief.

O’Sullivan went all or nothing when he brought the would be game 3 starter in and it paid off. I’m not sure if LSU ties the game the outcome is that much different. Hess ran out of gas in that game and Florida hit him late. Maybe the mindset is different and he could push through it but it was obvious Hess in game 2 in that game was not the Hess that dominated Oregon State at the end of those games.

Yep. I remember it well.

And the same mistakes he made to lose a very winnable CWSFinal are the same mistakes he has made year in and year out, this past weekend included.

It is like groundhog day. At some point, you want to see the pattern broken, but it ain't happening. It will continue to cost LSU titles.

it would be absurd at this point to fire a coach that has won as consistently as Paul has throughout the years.
over the last 9 years, several other coaches at lesser programs have won more so, it's not really "absurd"

and my response to this point is sorely underestimated. winning "a lot" is not the only criteria. it's what your team does in comparison to everyone else. in that regard, pm has fallen slightly short of where the premier program should be

advantages Skip had at LSU
pm still has the premier program despite the protestations of the pm defenders
