He is going to leave our program

Let’s just hope that we get 2-4 good years out of him

Wouldn’t his new team have to buy out his contract? There aren’t many teams out there that could stomach that.

Only the portion of his buyout penalty if he leaves. Not the $91MM that would be owed if we fired him.

Lane would prob do better by shite tweeting and going to work. That is what we hired him for, in that order.

Idk if it’s just me, but Lane and LSU seem like a match made in heaven. His personality is the perfect fit for a place like LSU.

This will literally be every year for his entire duration here. If you don't fully expect Lane to leave (and probably sooner than you want him to), you're setting yourself up for some longtime misery.

He stayed at Ole Miss for 5 years.

Come on.

Also, if he's having enough success at LSU to be in demand then he really should have no reason to leave LSU on his own.

Saban bounced around until he settled at Bama. I could actually see Kiffin settling in if he goes on a run. Seems like that's something he might want.

You're right. LSU should make him sign a Contract.

Kiffin even made the point in his introductory press conference that he is the same age as Pete Carroll when he got to USC, and Saban was only a few years older when he got to Bama. That sounds like a guy thinking about his legacy.

Like I asked on Thanksgiving weekend, why would he put himself and his family through the hell of that week just to leave LSU in 3 or 4 years? It doesn't make sense, and the Debbie Downers who have already resigned themselves to him leaving before he even coaches a game can't answer.

maybe wishful thinking, but that would help him rebuild some trust with the pearl clutchers who had a problem with him a few weeks ago.
