It was sad to see Tommy Moffit let go, but it was the right decision by Kelly

Among the many decisions he got right, this has to be right up there. Moffit was good with strength, but in the latter years, the conditioning sure did leave a lot to be desired.

p.s. Is Jake Flint in charge of the nutrition department too, or is it someone else?

Moffitt should have been replaced years ago. Our oline/dline was sloppy and out of shape compared to what they look like now.

It’s funny how conditioning magically improves when the head coach actually holds players accountable.

People knew moffits time was up in 2012ish

I do think we hit the jackpot with the mixture of nutrition and training. This team gets stronger every 4th qtr

He was stale as 8 day toast. Should have been cut loose years ago.

He and his family literally bled P&G. Good man, great family. No one should speak poorly of them.

He wasn't speaking poorly of the family or casting doubt on their allegiance to the program or university. But he was 100% correct in saying that Moffitt needed to go. He should have been put out to pasture YEARS ago. Even Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles could clearly see how much better conditioned our team is now. Plus, we have incurred far fewer injuries because of it. There was a reason Coach Kelly's first set of walking papers was handed to Tommy Moffitt.

The Moffit family is great but it was overdue.

Nah, it's the entitlement of kids. Any vet has heard the "don't cheat your body," line. You can always sham if you want to, you have to want to put out even if nobody is looking. Not about external accountability at all. Why they developed internal accountability, has not been determined.

Tommy was a legend, and maybe it was past his time but as an old avid gym rat let me say that he invented the routine I use even today, and in his time he was the Man. He basically invented the 3 sets of 6 -15 Reps etc that is the standard

I have no issue with what was said. Facts are facts and nothing derogatory was said about the man personally.

There was a lot going on there medically for the man from what I understand. I agree, but man I wish it didn't come down to it. He was just a few months short of his 20 retirement. I hope LSU made it work for him retirement-wise.

A lot of the problem was the head coach not getting players to buy in. Moffit is an all time great, he just had a very shitty run with head coaches.

My exact thoughts Sulphursfinest. It starts with the head coach. Strength training hasn't magically changed over the last 10 years. How could he possibly get players to buy in, if the head coaches had little to no accountability?

Oh you mean the HC position requires more than regurgitating cringey catchphrases and clapping on the sidelines like a seal?? :lol

I am not sure of the specifics you are talking about, but I am older than Moffitt, and people were doing 3 sets of 10 back when I was in HS. But like I said, it may be the specifics of how it is done. Does the 6-15 indicate changing the number of reps with each set? I am not a gym guy, probably just the opposite at this point so I don't really follow what may be the current practices in working out.
