Has he met a runner in the hole all year?

His average yards per contact were in the negatives for the Ole Miss game. he was getting behind the line.

He literally leading the NCAA in tackles and is on pace to break LSU's all time tackles in a season.

Lol Miami's defense sucked arse last year

I don't give a frick about Diaz or Baker. It's just a general point that when a head coach that is in danger of losing his job, gets rid of an assistant, it's not always so clear who is at fault.

Sometimes changes are made for job security reasons.

Agree, if O had hired Baker as DC and kept Callaway as OC it might be a different story for O.

FWIW the LB play has been better this year vs last year.

Our scheme is SO vanilla it's hard to say how well someone is playing. Somebody makes a play from time to time but we dont have dominant games or even halves. Maybe a quarter.

FTR, we've had some great LB position coaches:
Chief
Aranda
Steele

Damone Clark is a lot better than last year or even earlier this year. He's making plays all over the place, especially in the absence of plays by others. He's not perfect or outstanding, but is making plays. I don't think he's all-american caliber (as others are saying) but he may end up with the stats to all-american.

Anyone trumpeting the "15 yards downfield" nonsense clearly hasn't watched the last 4 or so games. Yes, he still cleans up others issues. But he's making plays in the back-field, open field, at the los, etc. He's also attacking the ballcarrier whereas earlier this year he was very passive and letting the ball carrier come to him.

BTW he had 19 tackles against Ole Miss...

Clark will need to average 14 tackles per game over the final 4 games to break Brady James’ single season record of 154 tackles, held since 2002.

I’m sure he will have a ton of opportunities to rack up tackles in three of the four games, at least.

How many of his linebackers did he evaluate, recruit, and sign?
Clark has absolutely improved.

It's a shame the new hires to lose their jobs after a year, before they have time to prove themselves.
But, that is the business

They are more times in the wrong hole and then chasing the play every other time.

Namari, seriously, you don’t know what you’re looking at. Damone looks better now than he ever has. He is getting better every year, which is scary if you’re an NFL opponent.

Coaching Damone Clark up to an all American level player?

That first half play when he ran down Corral at the sideline, shades of Devin White

In all honesty, that probably would have been even more if a disaster.

Doubt it

Unlike Jones, Baker has been a DC before, twice.

And those defenses were statistically better than what we're currently fielding.
