Other than LSU is ranked while LSU is unranked in school history?

Off the top of my head: Tulane was undefeated in 1998 and LSU went 4-7. I’m sure there’s been several others.

LaTech was decent around that time frame too.

I’m sure LA Tech has been there at one point. Tulane possibly. ULL is historically one of the worst programs in D1. ULM is right there too.

Tulane has FINISHED in the top 25 7 times I think. I’m sure LSU was out of the rankings for a couple of those.

LaTech went into their last game in 1999 as #25 in the AP. LSU was being coached by Hal Hunter.

Do not lie to yourself and believe ull is better. That may not be true in the past as Tulane has had some good years.

1998 Tulane was coached by Tommy Bowden (who then left for Clemson before the bowl game)

They then had Rich Rodriguez on the staff as OC...but decided to promote Chris Scelfo instead

I still wonder if they could have remained competitive if they went with Rich Rod instead. Seeing as Tulane did have 2 first round pick QBs in the 2000s

Pretty sure he did that because he was taking Rich with him to Clemson.
