I’d like to nominate Tim Corbin.
Has had 4-5 top recruiting classes and doesn’t have to fight the 11.7 scholarship limit.

Kevin O’Sullivan has the best roster every single year and only has 1 national championship. If he were at LSU and had those results, you guys would be calling for his head

Yea but does he get the best talent? I'm not defending Paul but college baseball isnt easy to recruit. He usually finished with the top ranked class but then you have the draftees. It's like you need to get the best players in the country who aren't too good and hope they choose to pass up a boat load of money to play for your program.

The difference is O'Sullivan has little to no fanbase support and a shite facility. Anything he wins over there is a Goddamn miracle. This is from a game against USCe a few years ago when they were rolling on their way to winning the NC.
yup, id leave florida for LSU no doubt, and that SOB is prob top 3 coaches in the country...

There isn't a bigger underachiever in all of college sports...

Lol. Sullivan is really the only choice

I've named like 5 guys at schools with more natural recruiting advantages than LSU with as much or less success than Mainieri in his time here.

John Calipari consistently has multiple lottery picks and a team full of 5 star recruits every single year....1 national title in 10 years at Kentucky. You know how many people think he should be fired? Not only is he no position to be fired, but he's one of the highest paid coaches in sports, college and professional.

College baseball is all about finding 3 star players, or 4 star players who love the home school, and turning them into 5 star players.
I think this is something all of the older coaches (CPM, Martin, Corbin, Augie and Graham toward the end of their careers), etc have struggled with.
There's a reason college calls it a head coach and not a manager. With only 2 paid assistants, you need to get out there and actually coach.

There is pretty much no school in a better position to recruit baseball players than Florida. Georgia, Texas, UCLA are all close
So how has Oregon State won 3 CWS in 13 years

I would much rather have an upcoming coach like a Cannizzaro, but that will never happen at LSU

What does that have to do with the post you responded to? Oregon St winning 3 titles in 13 years means Florida, Georgia, Texas, and UCLA aren't in the best position to recruit players from their own backyards?

Am I the one that CPM deserves at least the chance to close out the season?

you do realize that he was offered the job before we settled on CPM don't you? He turned us down. What has changed? CPM was actually said to be our 4th choice, and from what I remember that is being kind. He was more like 6th. People have a misconception that all top coaches are just waiting on a call from LSU, and that is just not so.
