My godfather was part of some group or guys that was pretty mixed Tulane and LSU. I don’t know if it was just a group of bar buddies or what.. anyway, I saw a picture of him in some family album pounding beers sitting in a wheelbarrow in purple and gold while his Tulane buddy pushed him around uptown NOLA for a pub crawl. Must have been 40-50 guys being carted around

I do find it strange we haven’t played them since 2009. I hate that we are so willing to play charity games against the FCS teams in state but not Tulane. I guess that goes back to Tulane’s lack of willingness to invest in football. LSU doesn’t want to give them a handout.
because Tulane wants to be treated like Texas.
a home and home series where Tulane gets entire gate in Nola.
even though everyone on the planet knows LSU is the one filling the joint.

Used to like it when they played, easy win and trips to Nola.

Just to stir the pot more, false allegations of cheating on Tulane’s part is the reason why we didn’t claim 1908 in football.

It’s really Tulane’s fault that they don’t play LSU every year in football. They were pig headed and tried to force a home and home on LSU when it was statistically factual that when LSU played Tulane in New Orleans that the vast majority of the crowd were LSU fans. LSU basically gave them an ultimatum and Tulane was too stubborn to realize they were in a Lose/Lose situation.
It was a bad decision similar to the ignorant decision Tulane made to leave the SEC in 1965; because of the SEC wanting to raise scholarship limits to 140 (all sports) at the time. Tulane and Ga. Tech basically left the SEC in protest. They felt football was getting too costly so they opted to leave and become Independent rather than comply with increased scholarship limits. Notre Dame’s success as an Independent skewed their perception of reality; they weren’t Notre Dame.

Nicholls and McNeese know we aren’t going play there. We could play at Tulane (superdome) but they want the whole gate which is laughable

What are you even talking about? This makes no sense, neither of your points.

They act like they’re UCF. Hell at least UCF has won enough to make a case for a true home and home.

LSU beat them so bad they ran off and turned into transgenders.

It’s safe to assume a majority of them don’t even step foot anywhere outside of nola. Doesn’t really benefit Louisiana. It benefits nola.

The on-campus stadium at Tulane only seats about 30,000 so LSU has nothing to gain by playing there. The other option would be the SUPERDOME , but it would still be 90% LSU so why not just play it in Tiger Stadium.

Tulane had shirts made in '82
"3 out of 4 and we are going for more"
they haven't won since

I’ve been to their new stadium. It’s actually pretty nice. Yes small but still a nice stadium. If they found a way to give LSU 12K in tickets, that would be fair. We take a little loss of venue to play in nola.

Tulane has no fans, aside from baseball. There aren’t many, but they exist and are loyal.
The only Tulane sport worth watching in the last 20 years was the baseball team, which was just as good (if not better) as LSU in the early 2000’s. But even the baseball team has become poor the last 5 or so years.
Their students and faculty and administration hate sports and very few alumni actually live close enough to attend games and most of the ones that do don’t seem to care.

In the late 70’s to mid 1980’s there were probably the most competitive and hated from my memory. Maybe it was due to our coaching mess when Bo was killed and the end of Coach Macs tenure, but Those Rag games were epic.
Here’s a little tidbit
Mac Brown was involved in 2 of the 3 losses from the late 70’s early 80’s. He was an assistant at Tulane in 79-80 and at LSU in 82. Ironically, he was a massive influence on the progression of Risher. My most favorite memory of poolane vs LSU was that epic game in 84. a-hole Times Picayune weenies got their asses handed to them on the field twice that day.
My seats were in the north end zone near the student section. I recall a lot of fights in the stands as well. It was like attending a brawl and a football game broke out.

Was he from Garyville? That used to be a big deal in Garyville. The losers (usually Tulane) would push the winners (usually LSU) around in a wheelbarrow parade.

Tuck Fulane...Their 15 or 20 fans make the gator fans look like kind. If 2lame wants to play in Tiger Stadium and in the in state rotation fine with me. But every year .......naw.
By the way, I have read that in the day it was wild. Lots of fights and down n dirty hate. In the 30s both fan base were fighting on the field in Baton Rouge; they would only stop when TGBFTL would play the National Anthem. When the Band stoped they would start fighting again. Mike the Tiger was take by Tulane students from the parking lot of Ye Ole College Inn.
