Don't like the sound of that personally. Makes offense more predictable if you're using WRs only in specific roles. Also makes the chemistry worse with the QB because he doesn't have consistency at WR. Sounds like to me they're having trouble finding their guys. WRs should not be getting "worn out" when they barely have opportunities to make plays.

He also talked about being able to run the same or similar plays out of different sets so the defense wouldn't know what is coming by formation and personnel. Will that happen? Remains to be seen. I think Ensminger knows better than that. I don't think it will be like Crowton where you knew what play was coming every time the substitutions came in. If Ensminger fails it won't be for lack of effort. He's working full time this summer while the rest of the staff is on vacation.

For some reason, everytime I hear their name mentioned together, I think paw patrol. Forgive me, I have 5 year old twin boys!!!

Wow it’s pretty ridiculous the amount of WR talent we have collected with such shite passing numbers.
I really like Jefferson , Sullivan , and Derrick Dillion. Obviously Giles , and the talented youngsters will push these older guys.
Dee Anderson has pissed me off so much , the kid has so much damn athletic potential but seems to be a knucklehead.

any clue how Davis, Sullivan and Anderson will be in this offense?
Well we finally have a qb that knows how to throw a god damn fade route.

I really think the passing game will be explosive with the talent at WR and also the TEs.

That said- watch one of the unheralded freshman emerge. It’s always like that at LSU.
Kenan Jones, not unheralded as a four star but less heralded than the two you mentioned. The guy is a physical freak.

He's definitely recovered from his injury. It doesn't take a year for a broken ankle to heal on an 18 year old.
He said he was around 85% in the spring, it's July now.

Everyone seems to forget about Derrick Dillon as well. He is a good all around receiver
He should be a solid contributor. The one that is often forgotten and never mentioned is Racey McMath. Hope he is progressing. I assume he's still with the team.

Sullivan, Davis and Anderson have something to say about your prediction.

Marshall, Chase, Giles and Jefferson are all much more polished players at the moment.
Anderson, Sullivan and Davis are all freaks of nature but have major issues. All inconsistent at something or another. I would use Davis as my deep threat often though. I would use Sullivan as my RZ scorer with my TEs and if Anderson can get back right, he could be a dangerous threat every down.
Then you have McMath and the others who are also very good WRs. It should be a show this year if things progress well. We'll see. I'm looking forward to our RBs as well. I think they will surprise people.

Giles
Jefferson
Sullivan
McMath
Dillon
Marshall and Chase when they get healthy and up to speed
Foster
Pettigrew
Moss
These guys are gonna factor in the passing game in some way. That’s a pretty deep group. I don’t expect Anderson to play, and anything we get out of Davis at this point is just gravy. I just don’t see we have any choice but to be a pass 1st team, and have that open up the running game. And I’m sure CEH will factor into, the passing game as well. 1) it’s just what the personnel requires and 2) we have a former gunslinger QB at OC who I’m sure is excited to throw it around a bit. As long as we’re able to sustain drives and not turn the ball over that way, I think it will be our M.O. However, in the SEC, O is gonna want to,run the ball, when we have a sizable lead, especially late. Can we do that with our unproven backs remains to be seen. Can’t wait.

quote:I'm guessing here, but what I think Ensminger is referring to for the most part is moving the WRs around by position. Mainly to force the defense to adjust is they want a specific coverage/person on a specific WR. Move them around from slot to wide, left and right, split out, on the line and off.

Yes, there will be personnel rotations, but probably nothing like Crowton's mass subs.

Maybe. My hope is the older 5* recruits Les signed step up their jr year.

I think you'll see Davis get some run. He'll be our deep threat.
Seems like they want to use Giles on a lot of short stuff.
Jefferson is a well rounded route runner, and depsite his long play in the spring game, i dont think he's going to blow the top off the defense much
Sullivan is a good blocker, chain mover, red zone type target.
That leaves Davis. I think he has a role. He routinely gets behind defenders

Either Terrace or one of the 14 other recievers we have will start.

Based on what ? Spring practice?
Let’s see how fall camp goes.
The only one I’m willing to pencil in is Giles , you don’t get #7 on accident.

I would play him more than any other WR we have except for Giles.
I’m not saying anyone is “sleeping” on Jefferson, but I think he’s gonna be very, very good. I thought he played better than Giles in the spring game, but who knows how that’ll translate to the season.
In any event, though we’re inexperienced, our WR corps is loaded.
