Ok, name all the programs that have consistently finished top 5 over last several years? Then, name 10 programs better than Lsu over last several years.

I'd consider a top 10 program a powerhouse. Since 2000, Lsu is a no brainier top 5.

Auburn has been much more inconsistent. Also, in 2013 they were one of the luckiest teams I've ever seen over a several game stretch.

I agree with you that LSU is easily in the top 10 programs, but that doesn't make them a powerhouse. In the last 10 years here are programs with more top 5 finishes than LSU (3): Alabama 6, Ohio State 7, Oregon 4, and USC 4. Meanwhile teams that also have finished top 5 three times are: Florida and Oklahoma. With that I would say that the only real powerhouses are Alabama and Ohio State, with LSU occupying the tier right below that.

The 2007 Lsu team would have blown away the 2013 auburn team. Hell, the 2013 team whipped auburns arse.

The 2007 team was a very good team that destroyed the #1 team for the NC.

The 2013 auburn team was honestly more like a 9-3 or even 8-4 type team that got some huge, and in some cases miraculous breaks to win games.

Nothing lucky about lsu's domination of the #1 ranked team...or a top 5 va tech team.

Much, much easier to finish higher in a weaker conference. I couldn't care less about top 5 finishes unless you #1. Hell va tech finished top 5 in 2007...Lsu won by 41 head to head. Oregon finished top 5 in 2011...Lsu beat the brakes off them. It is MUCH easier for Ohio St to make a playoff than Lsu

That may be the worst comparison of football teams ever. Do you own a TV?

literally the luckiest team in sec history. they needed a bluegrass miracle type play to beat UGA and ran a fg back to beat Bama.

IMO no. A powerhouse should be consistently competing for a national championship, and in the last 10 years, LSU hasn't.

NO. In the last 5 years:

- No SEC championships (no western div championships either)
- No BCS bowl games (or even appearances)
- I think we've lost 3 out of 5 last bowl games
- Any top 10 finishes? I can't think of any.
- Obviously no BCS championships

we had 4 players drafted off 2014 team(7 different sec programs had more players drafted than lsu) and 5 off the 2015(6 sec teams either matched or surpassed lsu)

you using true freshman as a shitload of nfl talent is laughable.

I noticed you conveniently left off the fact that 9 players were drafted off of our 2013 team (in the 2014 draft) (that's within my "last 3+ years" time frame). 5 of those 9 2014 draft picks were in the first 3 rounds, and include OBJ, Jarvis Landry, Trai Turner, Jeremy Hill, and Mett.

Also, La'el Collins didn't technically get drafted in 2015 draft because of that crazy situation, but he clearly would've been a high pick in 2015 draft, so I'm adding that one.

Also, 6 other players were drafted in 2017, which means they were on the 2014 and 15 rosters (again, part of my 3+ year time frame). 6 of those were first 3 round picks, and 3 were first rounders.

Add it up, and we had 25 (!) NFL draft picks on our roster from 2013-15. And I didn't even do the research to find undrafted free agents that made NFL rosters (Russell Shepard is one, I think, Freak was another, and I'd suspect there are more).

Technically, we could even add next year's draft picks also - they were freshmen on the roster in 2015, but I'll not do that here.

24 draft picks (plus La-el Collins) from the 2013, 2014, and 2015 rosters is more than enough to support my argument.

Truth is LSU will play anybody anywhere and compete well. With creative young and energetic offensive and defensive coordinators and a relentless recruiting head coach I think we are in good shape. LSU is definitely a top tier program. Just need to beat you know who.....

" Les who ran the program into the ground "

It's amusing that nine and three and 16 ranked in the country now equates to running a program into the ground. If I am remembering correctly, that's the same thing Nick put up in his last year.

I guess unless Coach O is able to win 10-11 this year, the season will be sub par by your standards.
