You are not a powerhouse when you lose to the same team for 6 years straight.
you mean the team that is on an unheard of run in modern cfb history?
if not being better than bama means you aren't a powerhouse program then bama is literally the only powerhouse in cfb

Coach Miles did a lot of damage after Saban had built us into a legit powerhouse.
Coach A 5 year stretch
16 losses 12 conf
losses
2 top 15 finishes
Coach B 5 year stretch
15 losses 12 conf losses
3 top 15 finishes
one of these is what you labeled a powerhouse and the other you consider the downfall of lsu football. wanna take a guess which is which?
who knew was powerhouse level...
2000-4 losses
2001- 3 losses
2002- 5 losses
2003- 1 loss
2004- 3 losses
40 % of the above tenure we finished unranked.

Except we had the chance to prevent them from ever ascending. LSU was the dominant program when Saban took over at Alabama. Les decided to rest on his laurels, promote from within and preside over deconstructing the offense. Alabama didn't just mystically happen. LSU let it happen.
If you want to throw up, go look at that 2008 recruiting class. What the frick was the staff doing? It's Patrick Peterson, Brandon Taylor, Ryan Baker and a bunch of nonfactors.

I'd still consider LSU a big boy, but a big boy in a precarious situation. If we don't start getting back to prominent bowls, we have a problem.

Not a negatiger at all. Oregon has consistently won their conference and recently played in the NCG.
Stanford has routinely been in he hunt or won their conference. Hell in 2015 they played in the rose bowl.
Wisconsin again has routinely been the best team in their division and only behind Ohio state in big ten.
Notice i said double maybe to okie state. My point was I can't name 10. LSU is a powerhouse waiting to be awoken again

please tell me you realize that there is no coach in cfb that can recruit with Saban. nothing lsu could have done wouldve stopped Saban from recruiting at bama. come on.
who are these can coaches that are better than saban?

it's called having a down recruiting class like every other can coach not named saban.
did you see the class Saban had signed when he left lsu with a month before nsd?

Lol. Oregon played in the championship game prior to lsu's last experience in that game. Oregon has 1 less loss than Lsu in the last 5 years and is coming off a 4-8 season and 13-12 over last two years. Not to mention, they play in pac 12 which was way down much of the time.
Wisconsin has more losses over last 5 and 7 years, and has not played in ncg.
Stanford. See Oregon, minus a ncg.
Okie state....lol

17 years straight in pre-season AP Top 25. Longest active SEC streak. Arm yourself with some knowledge of your team

in no way is Stanford or Oklahoma State a better football program than LSU even with the last 4 years being a step back. you don't become a better program because of 5 years playing in an easier conference

I totally agree with this. A great season, and Lsu is back in top 6. A NC, and Lsu is back in top 2.

Neither is Wisconsin...they have more losses, in much much much easier division and easier conference. Same with Oregon.
Now Lsu does need to do something very soon.

His question was better decade. Oregon played in the inaugural playoff. Since 11 have played in 2 Rose and a fiesta bowl.
Stanford - since 2011 they've played in Orange, Fiesta, and 3 rose bowls
Okie State - since 2011 have had 2 season with less than 10 wins
Wisconsin - since 2011 2 rose, cotton and an outback (not best but not bad either( and only 2 seasons with less than 10 wins
He asked who's better. I tossed out teams that one may, may be able to argue. I'm not saying these teams are, but they are in the discussion

You aren't even considering strength of conference. All have similar records this decade...but three haven't even played for a NC...and much weaker conferences. Oregon has had an extremely easy road to good bowls and playoffs coming out of that conference. Look what happens when they get there...didn't they lose playoffs by 30 plus...and of course in one of those Rose bowl winning years Lsu beat the shite out of them.
My point is everyone talks about how far Lsu has fallen, without looking at problems other teams are having....there aren't 10 better programs than Lsu over last 5-7 years. That said, they need to get going.

Yeah they lost in the playoffs by thirty but so did FSU, and Bama.
Again these are teams that I believe are in our league of comparisons. I think LSU is a power house and with proper coaching and continued recruiting could vault to the top in the same breath as Clemson, FSU, Bama, and Ohio State
This is the exact point of my original post. We are yelling at each other in agreement

All my buddies in ohio think Lsu is overrated and a joke lately
When you live away from Louisiana, of course people are going to talk shite. That's how it works. I have a friend here who went to UF and he takes shite all the time. We are consistently ranked. How is that a joke?

They view us how we view Auburn I would guess

To me a powerhouse is a consistent top 5 finisher over a period of time. LSU over the last five years: 13th, 16th, 23rd, 14th, and 14th. You are delusional if you think that is a powerhouse.
Posted on 8/25/17 at 10:19 am to Oilfieldbiology
Clemson had a good year last year, but let's slow our roll on them being some elite power house program. They will win a lot of games as only fsu is real competition in that league. Maybe Miami is coming back, time will tell...and Louisville is.. well.... For that matter, powerhouse fl st list three games last year in a top heavy conference and list by about 40 to Louisville....with all that talent and great coach...but they get a pass on here. Lol. Our fans are the worst.
