Coach Miles did a lot of damage after Saban had built us into a legit powerhouse.

His first 8 years, overall, were the best in Lsu history. His last 3-4 years crashed back to slightly above historical levels at Lsu, and was trending down. It was time for him to go, by at least 2 years.

Fwiw, Saban only had one team finish less than 3 losses.....including 2002 and 2004, which followed major bowl wins.

It wasn't just the offense that Miles ran into the ground, it was special freakin' teams too. Short kick-offs and out of bounds and absolutely no return game, thanks to Coach BBQ with his mouth uncomfortably always open and looking confused.

I live in Atlanta and work with Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee, Ohio State and Michigan State fans. My son is a senior at Ga Tech.
So, this is a small sample size, but this is how each of these fans feel:
Alabama: obviously hates Auburn, but sees only LSU as a true competitive rival.
Auburn: thinks his team is over-rated and has incredible respect for LSU.
Georgia: we don't play each other frequently enough to have a true rivalry, but regards LSU as a premier SEC team.
Ohio State: has only recently felt that they were on the same level as LSU.
Michigan State: respects LSU and does not think his team is at our level.
My son grew up as an LSU fan, but he now loves Ga Tech. I asked him recently who he would root for between LSU and Ga Tech. He said, "Dad, let's be honest. Ga Tech doesn't compete on the same level as LSU".
So, just a few opinions and they may be influenced by our friendships, but, outside of the Baton Rouge "fish bowl", LSU is still regarded as a top-tier team. At least, that is my experience.

We haven't won a championship in a while, mostly because of either one other team, or our own stupidity.

We are still a powerhouse.

How? Just ask yourself one question. Would any of the other powerhouse teams be concerned if LSU was on their schedule? Yes, they would. That's how you know.

I was listening to the radio yesterday and Barrett Sallee(sp?) was talking about the SEC west. Said how Auburn would win and it would come down to the iron bowl. He said LSU would be better than average but not great with an absolutey loaded roster with NFL talent running everywhere.

I rye all that to say this, if the coaches on offense maximize the ability of the talent, LSU will be a juggernaut. We have the talent to be a power house

I don't see how a program that has lost 12 games in the last three years, is not ranked in the top 10 going into the current season, and hasn't had a division title, a top ten finish or a top tier bowl appearance since six years ago, while more than half of its division has done at least one of those during that time, can consider itself a current powerhouse.

So, you're saying they have eyes and can read. This is not exactly a revelation. It's why we fired our head coach.

Oh tough guy, name 10 programs better than LSU over the last 7 or 8 years....hell, 5 years. I'll hang up and listen. This should be entertaining hearing your rational of ranking the Penn States and Michigan's of the world higher than us. Lol. Lsu had a down year in 2016, a disappointing year, to finish #15. They are preseason higher than that, and significantly higher in Vegas.

I'll hang up and listen.

No, powerhouses don't get continuesly shite on year in and year out..only reason anyone talks about us was because of Miles and his questionable playcalling/tactics as well as the qb situation

Did you remind them that they didn't win their own conference, got put into the playoff because of the name on their jerseys, then proceeded to get shutout by Clemson with their supposedly high powered offense. But we are the overrated ones? Yea ok

You are not a powerhouse when you lose to the same team for 6 years straight.

Or maybe because we are top 5 in wins over the last decade, and put more in the NFL than anyone. But I know, your agenda doesn't factor those meaningless facts on there.

No he didn't. LSU is littered with NFL talent and Miles is the guy who hired Aranda..

He was also the guy that hired Kevin Steele, Doug Mallory, and the Notorious BDP.
