It looks like they have a pretty fracture relationship that is affecting Nuss' play

I wouldn’t doubt it. I remember last year Nuss and Will were on the sideline talking and BK was going off further down the sideline. They were both giving the “here this fricking guy goes again” look and you could tell they were talking shite about him. I knew at that point these players don’t care for BK and his coaching style.

Potential option, based on what the coaches have seen in practice, they think an injured Nuss is still the best option at QB.

Don't worry. At the end of the season Kelly will say he probably should have made a switch at QB. But dont worry going into the off season he will look at making LSU football better in 2026. Here at LSU there is a standard and we didn't meet it this year. Rinse and repeat year after year until he's fired or his contract is up.

I recall the majority of LSU fans (except me and a few others) being more excited about Nuss over Jayden

I will own that. I thought Jayden had already reached his ceiling. I was actually disappointed that Jayden decided to come back.

Like everybody else I was mesmerized by Nuss's arm talent in the SEC Championship game. In fairness, after the Texas A&M game last year, I didn't think Nuss had the mental and emotional aspects of the game to be a great quarterback.

Great guy who stayed true to LSU. I hope he turns it around. Gun to my head, I hope he discloses some non-career-threatening injury and benches himself, and they install an offense that fits MVB AND the strengths and weaknesses of our offensive personnel.

It’s strange situation for sure.

Kelly first brought up the injury himself, unprompted, the week of the Southeastern game. He said Nuss was fighting through it but it would be the bye week before he could shut it down and get better (on the other side of it).

He then goes out and plays against Southeastern. Even if someone wants to say you couldn’t replace Nuss with MVB against Ole Miss, why not just sit him against Southeastern and get him the same rest he’s going to get on the bye week so that he would be better prepared against Ole Miss?

And this is evidence that the game has passed him by. The entire landscape of CFB is different and coaches have adapted and embraced a willingness to make changes IN SEASON.

The offensive system is broken. Thats the problem. Promoting Sloan was the wrong decision.

I am not sure if benching Nuss is even the right solution, but I am also not sure if Kelly has the testicular fortitude to pull the trigger.

At this point it really hasn’t been. He really hasn’t been all that bad, the offense as a unit is having trouble getting rhythm. He needs to be able to hit the deep ball but has also made plays.

It’s not exactly Nuss’ fault that we basically have refused to run the ball. The offensive game plan has looked straight up terrible and I think that should be obvious b

And this is why people want the backup to play, or even think he should be the starter - because his skillset would allow more to be put in his back. It’s that simple and they are exactly crazy for thinking that.

Bottom line is Kelly seems to be adamantly in denial that his offense has problems. So he hasn’t made it far enough down that logical path to consider if a QB change will help, as it would be a shot in the arm at best.

Kelly needs to decide if he will work his way out of it, or just move on.

Dude is a 5th year senior. He’s not working shite out after this long.

Call a spade a spade - he’s an average QB

Nuss is who he is at this point, five years into the program. He does not see the field well. He misses open WRs. His accuracy is erratic. He takes bad sacks. He throws too many INTs. He is not mobile.

And now that he is clearly injured, his best and maybe only attribute, arm strength, is gone. He should not be playing.

If Saban can switch QBs at halftime of a national championship game, LSU can give Van Buren some series in some meaningful regular season games to see how he does. Do it.
