That doesn't sound legal.
But it's true....

Starting January 1, 2027, Children's Mercy Hospital in the Kansas City metro area will no longer be an in-network provider for Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace insurance plans.

Should be part of all conventional health policies.

They can't deny for existing conditions anymore.

They may not like it. But if you've had cancer or a long term illness they can't deny you.
They don't even ask what conditions you have in the underwriting for a policy. But yeah, a healthy 50-year-old that hasn't been to the doctor in 10 years making $50,000 a year is going to pay the exact same premium as a 700-pound 50-year-old making $50,000 that sees 8 specialists a year on 15 meds that maxes out plan in February. (Assuming they are in the exact same plan).

The extra costs for that fat bastard are absorbed through the elevated premium costs paid by healthy people who don't even use their insurance.

It is ironic that they call it insurance because there is zero underwriting allowed anymore. They don't even charge differences based on sex or tobacco.

It is age based only.

I've never once heard anyone ever complain about government healthcare.

A lot of major corporations (say Fortune 500) are self insured. They pay insurance companies to administer the plan.

Well, you could pay them more.

Age determines gross premium. Income determines if you qualify for a Federal subsidy to lower the net premium. So if you make more than like $60-90k a year depending on household size, you will pay full price for the premium (not receive a subsidy).

Sex isn't a determining factor, but it is in the underwriting.
Tobacco is in the underwriting, but since health carriers don't give everyone a nicotine test, it's one of those dumb taxes. You can mark yes and pay a few more dollars in certain states if you want.

I will stick to my reality. Always self employed insured…

pre Obamacare. 675 dollar family plan.

Now… 2100 for the same plan

When you drill down to its core….
Government is and always will be the main driver of costs…

Regardless of whose responsibility it is just make it more affordable. This really shouldn’t even be a partisan issue.

This.

It don’t matter what political persuasion, everyone agrees it’s too damned expensive.

And it doesn’t need to be.

Unfortunately greed has long since taken the wheel, because there is more than enough in it to get rich and still provide adequate and affordable healthcare to hard working citizens.

If cost were to double every year then how many more years would you continue to pay their premiums?

How are you going to lessen the cost of healthcare?

Or are you advocating that Obamacare bastardized the system and the old way (customized coverage. Lower cost for healthier people) was better?

Now I do believe obese skills pay more. That's an issue.
But some people develop cancer, heart issues or other issues which are very expensive and usually no fault of their own and they max their oop out early too.
It's not all fat people.
And I have my issues but I also hiked more than 20 miles last week on multiple hikes and stay active. I was healthy until I wasn't and I still present as healthy.
But yeah I too am disgusted by lazy people. I hate when I talk to other peele at he clinic and get are on disability and talk about not being able too get out. And I'm jogging and going to the gym and riding bikes.

Real men don’t have health insurance

If you get gored by a boar hog or get run over by a 4 wheeler fix it yourself or pay cash

Otherwise when The Good Lord calls you, it’s time to go home

If prices for any service were posted like gas prices, things would drastically change. I know people with 80k+ vehicles drive miles out of route to save .10 a gallon on gas.
