What if LSU was able to hold all opponents to less than 20 points? What would their record be? Turnovers will decide a few games for the bad guys or the good guys. The pundits are under estimating our running backs. This is going to be a fun season.

We were at 19.7 ppg last season and finished 9-4.

Sub 15? 10-2 at a minimum.

ETA: if we held everyone to <20 last season we would have been 10-3 with losses to MooU, Alabama and ND if our offensive numbers remain unchanged.

He said holding all opponents under 20, not an average.

Yes.

Look at the 2011 Tigers. That team was all about special teams and DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE, and it can be said the offense was no better than average, if even that.

Then they met the one team in the championship game with an even better defense than their own, and now you know the rest of the story.

Teams that win can play great defense and run the ball. That hasn't really changed.

2011 had the best offensive line the country and had Rueben Randle, Odell Beckham, Spencer Ware andAlfred blue on offense.

If the defense holds every opponent under 20 then we better win double digit games.

Can you find 3 teams on the schedule we shouldn’t score at least 20 on?

Why does Bama have so many ships? Not because of the offense. They consistently have a strong DLine and LBs, which makes their DBs look even better. They are always in the backfield for crucial loss of yards

Ask Nick Saban what he thinks. His offenses are not really that good but his defense is so good that all Bama needs is 5 scoring drives at the most to win games. Their offensive scheme is not too hard to figure out and it isn’t that complex.

Every game that Saban has lost at Bama, with the exception of the 9-6 game and the 2007 season, have been because his defense struggled.

Defense still wins championships ladies and gentleman.

If only there was a team known for having the best defense we could judge this on......like .....if that team wins championshops......we just might have an answer.

A good defense will win you a lot of games. Add a good offensive line to that and you win championships. A good OL can make an average QB and RB look great.

Defense does still win championships BUT you cannot just have an average offense and win a title in today’s game. There is going to be at least one game every season where your offense is going to have to carry you cause your defense just doesn’t have it that day for whatever reason.

This is one of the reasons why we haven’t been in title contention for years. Our offense hasn’t been able to step up on those days.

Which is why im so optimistic about this year. Should have maybe the best D in all the land with a strong OLine and teams wont be able to put 8 in the box because Burrow can put the ball on the money. GEAUX TIGERS

It can be argued that Bama has an average offense

Actualy were still waiting for the rubber match @ Tiger Stadium, since LSU beat Bama @ Bama in game 1 in the first and only Best 2 of 3 series in BCS history. So it seems that we don't really know the rest of the story Mr Harvey.

Save the comments about 21-0 from Bamers, I'm only joking - kind of anyway.

You need an offense, defense, and special teams just to play a game, so I'd say it takes a combination of all three.

Yes....if you have a dominant defense that can create turnovers and do a little scoring, they can win a lot of games. Couple a good defense with a stellar kicking game and you are a contender...

18.8 points per game last year............I look for that number to be closer to 13 ppg this year

This LSU D is gonna shut some haters up.
