To be a great coach you have to be a great recruiter and while I like what he's done so far it remains to be seen whether he's a great recruiter or not. Saban is the greatest recruiter of all time and now with the nil it looks like Jumbo's the second greatest recruiter, or maybe the best, same with Kirby Smart.

Just as far as the actual coaching goes, taking recruiting out of the equation which you can't really do, he's as good as anyone.

I think CBK does have the potential. I can tell you more in December.

We will find out soon enough. His record speaks for itself. If he can turn that into championships in the toughest division in college football, you'll have your answer. Personally I think it's a bit too soon to be labeling him as the #2 of all time behind only Saban. There is no doubt he's a great football coach and I'm just as excited as anyone to see what he can do here at LSU but like anybody else, he has to prove it on the field first. I think it's very possible that he's on his way to doing that though.

He definitely gave Dumbo a run for his money at crempsin with three star recruits. While Dumbo had four and five star recruits.

Well at least they are now on more of an even playing field in regards, to recruiting, facilities, administration, and geography. So let’s see how this plays out for BK. No one can argue the fact that the head coach at ND is at a disadvantage right out the gate but to his credit BK did well. That is what should be exciting for LSU fans.

It's not only possible, if you look at his record, it's very probable...

If you go by salary he is. Coach salaries are just plain lunacy.

Recruiting the best is the first characteristic of an elite HC. I will wait until Feb of 2023 to make an assessment of his recruiting ability.

Kirby Smart is 3-1 in CFP games in his tenure at UGA. Smart has won an SEC title and a national title. UGA's recruiting is top 3 every year.

Could be but will need W's in the SEC and against Bama.

Spoke to a Bama fan and he is concerned about LSU now. Asked why and he said you have a real coach now. I loved it.

Hope we give them a lot to worry about and end the Bama dominance. I'm excited to see how all this plays out.

Kelly has a long way to go to be better than Saban, like it or not.

Potentially, he can be. But as of today, by any standard, he is not.

Facts are, Kirby has a better winning % , a title, and has been a better recruiter. Also, I wouldn't trade Kelly for Jimbo, but Fisher does have a title and has recruited better. Kelly is likely a better coach though.
