Duke is not very good in the 2 games I have watched. They have lost like 3 games and should not even be in the top 25.
Kansas got blown out by 30 to Texas at home and stays in the top 10 (now have lost to Okla ST)
Wisconsin is like 10 even tho they have 2-3 losses and got blown out.
Not that it affects anything but this LSU team should definitely be top 25. Maybe even top 15. But the “blue bloods” stay in there even tho they are arguably worse.

Just a thought.

Yep. Rankings are always biased. Common top dogs will always get more benefit of the doubt than the ones that don't normally dominate the top 10 rankings. Like Duke, Kansas, Villanova and so on.

It should be a top 40 in basketball not a top 25 in my opinion but the polls are extremely biased towards blue bloods and recruiting rankings. There are too many basketball games across the country for everyone to be really educated on who the best basketball teams are. Good news is polls have no bearing on the postseason.

I agree Duke shouldn’t be ranked right now, Wisconsin is overrated, and KU is probably a top 15 team with two losses to top 5 teams. LSU should be a top 20 team. The only reason they aren’t is the loss to St. Louis, who is being underrated right now, too. LSU needs some more nationally televised games to get their name out there. Next week’s game against Bama is a big one.

Those losses happened yesterday so the rankings aren’t reflecting that yet.

Duke should absolutely drop out and Wisconsin won’t be a top 10. Kansas still has 2 top 10 wins and 4 top 25 wins. That’s a good resume no matter the losses they have.

What’s LSU’s resume? A close loss to St. Louis and unranked Florida. Wins over....the bottom half of the SEC?

No way people voting in the polls are covering the sport like they normally do. They're going off their preseason notions and normal big name biases.

media polls are irrelevant. it’s all about trying to win the SEC and the selection committee seeds at the end of the year

Ignore all polls.

Polls are irrelevant in basketball, it's all about the NET rankings.

We are #19 in NET as of posting this so that should tell you what we're really looking like right now when you take the opinionated bias out of it.

Beat South Carolina this weekend and we are very likely to be ranked come Monday.

Yeah, but there is way more parity in b-ball then football.

Ignore rankings...this is what really matters to the Selection Committee:

NET Rankings

Also, KenPom has additional info on offense, defense and SOS. It's all about the stats man.

I know no other sport, at any level, that compares to college basketball with it's built in elitism. Every sport has that team, or maybe couple of teams that no one shuts up about. But CBB has more like a dozen teams that get special treatment, and they have an all out fraternity that protects them. They're like Freemasons, with their little inner circles of trust and secrecy, and the lengths they go to to protect what they deem to be "theirs".

It's really weird, and incredibly infuriating how it's allowed to go on by the NCAA, but they'll come after the LSU's of the world over anything, to make it seem like they're on top of things. We need a new governing body to clean up this mess and get rid of the "good ol' boys" club. College sports, especially basketball, feel more and more like a scripted movie every year, and it's taking the fun out of real competition with level playing fields.

Sorry for the rant. Had to vent.

Basketball rankings continue to operate like preseason rankings all season long. It's more about what pollsters believe a team's potential is than what the actual games have shown. It's a bit crazy. That's why basketball's postseason is forced to depend on some many other analytical metrics like KenPom, NET, etc.

They don't really matter, so I think the voters don't even try.

You are missing the point. All of those other teams started in the top 25.
