Is it championship or bust?

At the beginning of the year, I don’t think that’s the tune we were singing. It’s amazing how much things change over the course of the season. Not only has the LSU script changed, but look at Clemson. Those guys are capable of getting it going any week now.
If LSU makes the playoff and loses, is it a failed year? Has the value of the SEC title been devalued by the playoff?
Lastly, can this fanbase survive another rematch loss? The older generation dealt with it against Ole Miss. This generation has Alabama.

Every year is championship or bust.

Why do we continue to have threads like this?

it's always tiered goals:
1) win the games you are supposed to win
2) win game(s) you are the underdog
3) beat bama
4) win the west
5) win the SEC
6) get to CFP
7) get to CFPCG
8) win CFPCG

SEC championship? Yes
National Championship? In my opinion the goal is to get into the tourney every year and let the chips fall where they may after that. If we get into the playoffs play well, play hard and lose I have no complaints. If we get in and pull a Les Miles I will have complaints.

Personally it’s about winning the SEC.
After that it’s all gravy.
It’s extremely hard to go 15-0. Clemson did it last season and no other team has done it.

I know, the season isn’t even over.

Its playoffs or bust. Lose a close to one Clemson or Ohio State and you can't say the whole season was wasted.

Agree this should be the goal of players, coaches, and the athletic dept.
But This leads to nothing but misery as a fan

If LSU lost to Ohio St in the title game, I'd be upset the next day, but the season would be an overhwelming success. But we gotta win the SEC now. Don't lose sight of the goals no they are so close.

Great point. When you watch the end of a game, the losing team’s players seem to handle it much better than fans. Hell, the winning team does too. They move on to prepare for next week. Fans don’t, and they don’t have to.
But yes, that seems to set things up for disappointment. For me, I think a title this year would make up for 2011.

Especially when they have laid it all on the line.

Honestly, at this point a playoff win and Heisman is good. Championship for the SEC and nation is the goal, but it won't be a fail if we don't get the whole shebang. Just unfortunate.

Honestly, that would hurt as much as the first time, but three things:
1 - winning the west and making the playoffs will make the year a huge success.
2- this team/staff/program would bounce back from it and not settle into mediocrity again.
3- frick dem, dat ain't gonna happen.

This year I don’t know if LSU has enough defense to beat an Ohio State. LSUs only chance to win would be to get in a shoot out like it had to do with Texas and Alabama

It was ‘beat Bama or bust,’ IMO.
Jon done. Now it’s about winning the SEC.
After that? Playoffs.

There’s no bust for me anyMore this year. Championship would be icing on the cake.
If we win out, the SEC Championship game and playoffs will be a gauntlet.

It's always championship or bust as it should be.
