Weis fits the hiring profile for OU outside of the longevity thing.

I don’t think OU will fire Venables this season

That sound premature, but Lane can call plays if necessary and do excellent at it.
He should also be able to choose any good competent young guy with potential and train him to be excellent.

PS - Alabama beats Clemson if Kiffin is calling plays instead of Sark.

JMHO.

I just assumed they were in a position to do it based off of comments from ou fans.

I just now looked it up and saw they signed him to a big extension after last season

Add have to stop being idiots and stop giving massive extensions at the stop if the hat.

I’m sure they were still a little gunshy from Riley but NO ONE was going after venables.

FSU is going to be a tough job for whoever takes it. I have several friends here that are donors to the Noles. They have a bad financial situation. They have too much debt. They don’t have the breadth of active fans that LSU does. They also don’t have a group of top end donors that LSU has. They are very dependent on ten-millionaire types to do the heavy lifting, This is coming from guys that are involved with the program.

FWIW, 4-5 pod casts aren't even mentioning his name. All coaches listed as "candidates " are head coaches.

Would be a horrible decision for Weiss. FSU is extremely far away from being relevant again. They just don’t have the spending ability to be great

Agreed! I think this is offense is much more about kiffin than it is weis. Offense will never be of concern as long as kiffin is here

Yup. They don’t have the type of donors others have. FSU was an all girl school until the 60s.

Exactly! Would be the absolute dumbest career move. He ain’t going nowhere for atleast 3 years. Also given the high volume of talk about LSU building a dynasty team. I would like guess he will be around for awhile

Some of these coaches should think long and hard about these opportunities, see Dave Aranda

lol pass what you’re smoking

Weiss will a head coach or an NFL OC very soon

That should come as no surprise to anyone with the way Lane talks him up. Lane considers him an offensive genius

If I’m Weiss Jr, I don’t touch FSU with a 10’ pole —- FSU is notorious for NOT spending money….. on staff, and especially on facility modernization.

They may take a stop-gap measure and rehire Jimbo, at a discount — especially since he knows how they manage things over there.

Lester Earl, you are so right. Florida State is a program and the only reason Jimbo was promoted only being an offensive coordinator because he came to Florida State as coaching waiting they are not going to hire a coordinator. They will go after a proven head coach. Agree with you 100%. Charlie Weiss Jr is safe from Florida State for sure.

He got head coach money for what, 7 years? Now he can go be a coordinator again and make that money.

He made the right decision and ended up failing in the end. Tbh, he lasted longer than i expected him to.
