Florida St isn't hiring someone who hasnt been a HC lol
Their history of hiring head coaches hasn’t been great. No up and coming head coach is going to leave where they are for FSU because that place is tough to coach at right now. It is going to take a bold move of hiring a good up-and-coming coordinator. Kirby and Freeman have proven that coordinators can step into high-profile jobs and do just fine. Weis will be a leading candidate FSU. I’d rather see him go to the ACC than stay in the SEC.

Jimbo supposedly left because of their lack of “commitment” to making the football program great. I have no idea what has been going on at FSU since then but the fact that they would pay a $50MM+ buy out suggests they are now committed.
That said, FSU is blue-blood adjacent. It’s a high-end Power program and I would imagine it could be appealing to either of our coordinators much like Oregon was to Lanning.
