In college, yeah probably. Maybe if Ryan Day decides to try the NFL, he’d jump to Ohio State? We all know he’ll go anywhere if he thinks it’s better for him, as we would expect.

In the NFL though? Yeah he gone lol.

I’d probably put it at like 45% NFL, 35% retirement, 20% CFB.

Yea I think it is

Before bama Saban had a rep for moving.

We know these things to be true:
1. LSU will not lose a coach due to pay
2. We aren’t losing assistants due to pay
3. We aren’t going to lose a coach because of NIL
4. Competent or clown coaches that aren’t checked out can win a national title here

We are the same tier job as bama, tosu and UGA

So only way he goes is if he wants to coach in the NFL

Saban run at Alabama coming. LSU is a tier 1 job and he isn’t leaving LSU for another one.

NFL is the only place he’d ever go

Odds say probably not.
If he's really successful then he probably heads to the NFL in 5 years.

IF he can do a generational run like Saban, he stays. If not, he gazes towards other pastures. More than likely the NFL. Doubtful to another college. We are an apex destination. There are several near peers, but why make a lateral move?

I think he's in it for the long haul considering that he consulted both Nick Saban and Pete Carrol. Both of those guys similar to Lane also had NFL HC experience and stayed HC at a college for 8+ years. He's also been sober a few years, plus just getting a bit older I think he may see value in staying put now and try to build a legacy.

If Kiffin can manage to win a natty within 3-4 years, I think he would follow human nature and his intensity level and push to excel will stop. Very few can reach the top and stay there. I hope I am wrong.

My guess is a Urban Meyer type run, win a couple nattys leave after 6 years or so

No, he'll coach somewhere else before he retires.

Who knows? Maybe maybe not. I think Kiffin would like to leave a Saban-like legacy here, but nothing is guaranteed.

I don't think the NFL is in the cards for Lane anymore. He's a college coach, and i'm sure Saban will warn him about bolting for the NFL when he's having sucess at this level.

I think this is a good take.

CFB will always have its bully schools that succeed no matter what because of their resources and gravitational pull, but the path to winning is more available than ever to other schools.

OM hasn't been this close before, and whatever happens going forward, we'll never know what would have happened had he stayed (this year or in the future). I'm on record as saying that Ole Miss has plenty enough resources to pay him well, get players, and compete for the NC.

My gut feeling is that it's more likely Kiffin tries to replicate at LSU what Saban did at Bama instead of trying to replicate at Bama what Saban did there.

It definitely made an impression and greatly helped with him making the transition/move to LSU.

Yet he stayed six at Ole Piss.
