What possible proof could there be?
All I'm asking for is that you show me where you've found that the indian mounds are "burial places for tribal leaders... we have two". Where did you get the information that tribal leaders are buried there.
You either...
1. made it up to make your argument sound better
or
2. found it somewhere.
If you found it somewhere, I'd like to know where. That's all I'm asking. I've been looking. I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm really not. But I can't find that anywhere.
It's how mis-information gets spread on message boards. You're sitting there saying "this is what they are" and you're doing it in a way that's not being completely idiotic (like the guy making fun of rednecks) so some people will start to believe you.
When I made my points about lawnmowers and stakes doing more damage than kids - I said that I could very well be wrong, b/c that is something I have come up with myself.
I showed an article that says archealogists agree that its not a burial place. You haven't shown anything.
So how did you form the previous key element to your argument (before you changed it to the "it's 6000 years old, they're professionals, they can do what they want, why shouldn't we believe them?") argument.
Again, not saying that's wrong, I just don't follow another person blindly. When change is made that I don't agree with, it's on the person doing the changes to prove to me why I should agree with them. I don't just rollover and say "well that sucks, but he's got a degree in that so i'm sure he's right"

Can someone tell me why this is a problem all of a sudden after years of kids playing on the Indian Mounds before and after games?
Posted on 10/1/10 at 10:33 am to harper6464
Have you ever seen the indian mounds during those game days?
Doesnt sound like you have. you are calling little 5 year olds retards?
You think a lawnmower is only on those mounds for 5 min and they ONLY cut the grass once a week in the heart of summer? Since you have read what the scientist all somehow agree on even though they dont you should know the articles posted better than I.

Oh so learning something about a 6000 year old culture is more important than what they left behind
Nice try. But obviously the point is let's not destroy the mounds for the sake of trailer park entertainment.
But hey, thanks for playing

To people saying, "It's LSU's property, they can do what they want." Well I say, "It's Les Miles team, he can play whatever QB he wants." So why do we have this site? Why do we discuss Les Miles' team?
sure, you can complain about it on a web site, but in the end, keep your kids off the mounds, like LSU asks, or be prepared to be ticketed.
you think having this site makes a difference in who Les plays and how he runs his team? no, it's just a place to bitch about it

Apparently the only argument for saving the mounds is to act like a retard and to believe that a 30 pound kid causes more dammage than a 1000 pound lawnmower or a hydrolic post gived into the mound to take a soil sample.
So you're saying there's only ONE kid on the mound on game day.
100 kids @ 30 lbs = 3000 lbs.
Last time I checked, 3000 > 1000.

Or for cutting grass and feeding the greed of knowledge so you can get published in a journal.
My point is why single out the kids when there is much more LSU is doing to harm these hills of dirt.

So a univeristy has the explicit right to destroy things in the name of gaining knowledge. Ok gotcha.

LSU Campus Mounds
Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge Co.
LSU Campus Mounds entered the National Register of Historic Places 1999 1 March.
Historic Name: LSU Campus Mounds .
Other Name: 16EBR6 .
Address: LSU Campus, Baton Roughe, East Baton Rouge Parish, LA 70803.
Status: National Register.
Level of Significance: National.
Area of Significance and Theme: Archaeology. Property Type: Site.
Two conical earthen mounds at the eastern edge of the Pleistocene Prairie terrace, at the corner of Dalrymple Drive and Fieldhouse Drive in the northeast corner of the Louisiana State University campus in Baton Rouge. Within the boundaries of a LSU historic district listed on the National Register, archaeological resources of the mounds were not addressed in the nomination form. Modifications to the site area include sidewalkds constructed between them in 1985 and a low brick wall around the mounds. The brick wall was constructed following a student being killed by a vehicle riding over the top of Mound B. The brick wall has prevented vehicles from crossing the mounds, but erosion is occurring from pedestrian and bicycle traffic. In 1996 LSU Facility Services used river silt to fill in small erosional features that had formed on the summit and slopes of both mounds. They then resodded with a hybrid bermuda grass. A physical description of the site is here. Images of the two mounds are here.

Seriously?? Have you ever seen the indian mounds?
They are not mountains. The picture is showing about 1/6 of one entire mound. 100 kids and they are somehow able to slide down them? Seriously are you that stupid or have you just never seen how many kids are actually on them during a game day?
Posted on 10/1/10 at 10:45 am to cajunsax62
Better?
I count a whopping 8 people

Posting, what you say is 1/6 of the indian mound to prove anything is as stupid as they get.
Posted on 10/1/10 at 10:47 am to cajunsax62
No posting that there are 100 kids on the indian mounds is "as stupid as they get"
