Those guys still exist, with the portal now though we can go get high level players already developed for the most part making developing guys who might be behind not as worth it.
Jay put a lot of trust in Kling, Neal and Hurd for the past season developing into good players and it just didnt happen. Had he just went to the portal to find guys to fill those roles who were better, we could have had a better season. Simple as that.
He went very light in the portal this past season and it bit us, plainly speaking. Just think if he DIDN'T grab Holman and Jump how this season might have turned out.

When the pitcher from California committed last night it got me thinking about how it worked in the past. That got me thinking about the pitchers I mentioned earlier. And other people added other names. Back then, you signed a kid and in general you had them 3 years unless they got injured. Now the big push every year is who we get in the portal. I don’t like that but it is what it is. That is all I was talking about when I started this thread.
