I ask because of the recent discussion surrounding 1908, not because I am comparing.

In 2011, LSU was still recognized as champs by Anderson and Hester and the CCR, both computer polls. We know that those types of polls are gold for a school like UCF.

I’m just curious, will we ever see fans clamoring for a 2011 title since it was technically recognized?

No but we can claim #2 and make rings

Dumb question taking pride in the SEC championship during that timeframe is almost as good considering

I wouldn’t want the school to claim it. Just starting a discussion. The ‘80’s were littered with championships awarded to multiple schools in a year by these polls.

In 1981 alone, the NCF recognized 5 schools as champions.

Nah ! Won’t happen. In 1908 LSU was slighted because an investigation caused by Tulane. LSU was ultimately cleared of any wrong doing. Auburn was declared National Champion and that Auburn team only had 1 loss all year long; they lost 10-2 to LSU. LSU has a legitimate claim to the National Title in 1908. If USC can claim the 2003 Natty then LSU can claim the 1908 Natty. LSU was retroactively crowned champion as I understand how the story goes.

No. Totally different situation. We lost our last game in 2011. Same reason we won’t be claiming any of our national titles from the 1930’s or 1960’s.

You’re correct. I won’t exist either so I don’t care. I just hope to have football the rest of my years.

Pretty sure the listed champs for 1908 are Harvard, LSU, and Penn.

The TRUTH is that for most of the history of college football there was no National Champion. Sure a bunch of sports writers etc., with no authorization or power to do so named champions. But the NCAA, the ruling body did not have a national championship criteria setup. So All those old "championships" are not legit.

To be honest, USC has less of a claim to 2003 than LSU has to 1908. I agree.

So, you mean those 317 natty's claimed by teams in Alabama awarded by the Opelika Times aren't real??? Seriously????
