He was a sure tackler and ball hawking safety. Played a lot longer in the NFL than I thought he would because I didn't think he was going to be fast enough but a great safety for LSU during his time

Pretty sure he had more receptions than all the MSU WR combined and more return yards than MSU offense had yards in the 2007 opener.

Craig Steltz was the man.

He had that white boy swag with the hair and New Orleans accent but will but your dick in the dirt. I remember he put a hit in a Fresno state player from the back thought he broke him in half. We won the Alabama game in sabans first year in 2007 on 4th down. The Alabama wr caught the ball but steltz put a hit on him causing him to drop it. He was a great player.

Go look up Craig's stats from his senior year against Jesuit. Keep in mind he was a safety.

One of the best performances I've ever seen.

In the pantheon of defensive backs from DBU, he's overshadowed and pretty underrated. He was never the superstar player that Peterson or Mathieu were, never notorious like LaRon, but every bit as good at what he did.

One of those "unintended consequences" types of things was Saban pulling the redshirt off of Steltz midway through 2004. He only played special teams I believe, and if he did play any DB he didn't record any stats.

A 5th year senior Steltz in 2008 might have been a huge help when our defense was running around confused as shite from the Malveto disaster. Not saying he would have single handedly saved the season, but some of those games we might not have given up buckets of points if he was back there directing traffic.

Made his money off of great pass rush. Basically was catching fly balls his senior season. He was okay, I can name 5 better than him. Jones,Landry,Taylor,Adams and Hunt maybe 10 if researched further.

I believe he lead the team in INTs that Senior championship season.

I went to school with him in 8th grade at Rummel and he was one of the nicest people around.
