Wish I would have kept track all the times you’ve said thus & regretted it. Please don’t disappear on me ok?

That would be exactly once, when I admitted I believed I was wrong about Orgeron. Funnily enough though, I was actually right and he was fired 2 years later. Weird how that happens.

I never said it wasn’t an outlier. All I said is that it’s possible for someone slugging .400 to be a single hitters and it’s a factual statement considering a singles hitter has slugged .530 or whatever it was fairly recently.

He’s getting close to action. He’s been hitting, not sure about running around yet.

Lmao @ 13 pager on fricking GIO. Dude is supremely average. Pearson is better.

Lester, the issue is that you are moving the goal posts. In another thread you wrote,
Maybe Gio will tank, and this will turn out to be true, but if not the statement above is just plain wrong.
In this thread you wrote,
That is probably true, but it’s easy to see how you are moving the goal posts from last week (1st quote) to this week (2nd quote).
You have said that Gio is a singles hitter who strikes out a ton and is an average defender. I think all of those are slightly wrong. He is not a power hitter, nor is he a singles hitter. He strikes out more than he should, but a ton? And his speed makes him a better than average outfielder. I’ve always been critical of Gio because he doesn’t make the plays on the edge of his range like Andrew Stevenson and Mark Laird used to do EVERY FRIGGIN TIME! However, Gio’s speed gets him to plays that most outfielders don’t touch.
Gio is a good SEC outfielder and average at the plate. One more stud outfielder would definitely put him on the bench, but we don’t have that.

If LSU had their normal OF talent he very likely would not be playing every day.

Is he? I wonder how he’ll hit when there is a book on him and he’s facing better pitching. And I haven’t seen him in the outfield. How is his speed and defense? Hopefully he can step right in and deliver next season.

Jay has been looking for a reason to put Pearson on the field. If Pearson was better, he would be playing by now.
He has the potential to be better than Gio career wise, but not now.
Jay seems to really like what Gio brings to the lineup, so I wouldn't expect to see anyone else there unless Gio goes 0-8 in the first 2 games this weekend with bad at bats. Then you might see a shake up. Even though he hasn't been getting hits he has still had some good at bats though. Even some of his strike outs have been after fighting off pitches and getting deep into counts. It's not always all about the numbers like you guys like to bring up in these arguments. At a certain point the numbers come into play, but I don't think Gio has had bad enough at bats to have him taken out the lineup.

I really want gio to be ray wright for us

That's all he needs to be for this team and he is definitely capable of doing that. I've always liked him beside how much he strikes out. Seems to be better with that this season. Little slump as of late but still good at bats. He will come out of it.

I would like to see him try to bunt for a hit a little bit more. I assume the 3B is almost always even or in front of the bag for him, but a good bunt may still be a hit (pits pressure even on an average bunt) and he could even try to pull it with him to cause a bunch of traffic on the right side.

Don’t really care. Pearson 2-4 today. Gio has been bad enough to where you have to experiment & find someone better. That’s the point

Pearson did well. I personally want to see Stevenson get some time.
