I’ll go ahead and admit it: the rest of the SEC is as good as LSU at baseball now

We no longer have any real advantages over SEC schools. We haven’t been back to Omaha since 2017, and we’re likely not heading back there this season. Most of the other SEC powerhouses have been to Omaha over the last six years, and 3 of them have won the whole thing.

LSU can’t seem to outdo the other schools based on reputation or tradition or any other built-in advantages anymore.

Time look in the mirror and figure out what needs to be done just to keep up with the rest of the SEC moving forward.

Top 4 in the sec back to back years
Back to back 40 win seasons
I think we are headed in the right direction in YEAR 2 of a rebuild

So how should we do this?

Hire a new coach?

Get a Top 8 National seed?

What's your cheat code for automatically winning the CWS?

Bad take, OP. Really bad take.

We needed a refresh after CPM lost it, and that is what happened. We are a top 8 seed. Only four other SEC teams can say that out of 14.

Additionally, we have suffered through significant injuries to our pitching staff this year.

Only team in the SEC that didn't lose a road series. 1 cancelled game away from winning the SEC in year 2. Let's ride. So tired of this negativity before the season is even over. Let's get to Omaha this year.

We are headed in the right direction. 2 forty win seasons. We were close last year. Let’s see if we can get over the hump in year 2 of the reboot. I will say there is a lot more parody now than there was in the past. We got to get there before we can win it. One game at a time.

How are you figuring this?

I expect us to plow right through the regional and supers to Omaha. It takes a boat load of fluke for another team to win a game against us.

We could be matched with Auburn in the supers. We’re not going to plow through anything. I love the positivity but in reality this team has sputtered through the last month and is a shell of it’s former self. It’s going to be very tough to even reach Omaha

If recruiting is any indication then we are headed in the right direction. Recruiting and Transfer portal recruiting wasn’t even close this past class,we were way ahead of everybody

I upvoted you because I am ready to ride too! But LSU did lose one road series to Auburn and the 3rd game of that series was a 10 run rule loss on May 7th.

I hope we aren’t paired with either Bama or Auburn. But if we are, let’s take care of business.

We have one national championship in the last 22 years. Why did it take you so long to come to that obvious conclusion.

Ridiculous take that ignores the data. CJJ came in and immediately improved the team, and he had the top HS and top portal classes IN THE NATION last year. Let’s see if he does it again. If so, we clearly have the advantages you mourn.

LSU hasn’t had a real advantage of SEC schools for 20 years and it’s all LSU’s and Mississippi State’s fault.

They showed other schools that you can be profitable if you put the resources towards baseball. Now outside of Missouri the entire conference cares about baseball.

I suppose some folks at Alabama felt that way about football, about 15 years ago. They had long been the premier SEC team, the main one playing on a national level. Sure, others had made runs with conference titles, but Bama was the one that won it all.
Then the BCS happened, and the SEC surged to the top of college football, spearheaded by LSU and Florida, with Auburn and Georgia closely following. Alabama was left behind, in a new world order.

So Bama, instead of giving up, instead hired a good coach. And they became the best program in the country, by a pretty large margin, for a decade.

There's no reason we can't see a similar run here in baseball.

He started out ok. We aren’t the sole baseball school of the SEC any more. Other SEC schools have figured out a string baseball program is a good thing. Just look at the facilities now versus the 80s and 90s.

When we were winning the CWS on a relatively regular basis we were ahead of the curve for baseball. Now we are not.

All is not lost and we are not “not” competitive. That’s where the OP got to woe is us.

We are on the correct path, but we also have to now recognize with the parity in the SEC and around major college baseball a title is an exceptionally great year he’ll, making Omaha should be considered a successful year.
