Yes. The young and healthy have little to fear from this.

My grandson in Palm Harbor is getting prepped for his Sr. season, so yes.

Go soak that sore pussy of yours in a nice warm bath.

People need to wake up and live life.
I would definitely let my son play ball. Where will he hide in the many functions of life besides football? In football, I would assume they would test all the teams before the games. However, I feel we will someday all or most will catch this dam thing, so lets geaux.
Furthermore, how do I protect my son from eating out, kissing and banging girls who will have Covid? Or, going to the doctor, the grocery store, a party, a crowded place, infinite etc. ??? Where does this crap stop? Play ball and live life!!!
Only way I step in is if he is a big boy with some concerning conditions like heart problems, lung problems, diabetes, etc. Then, we have to talk about it, but again where will big boy be better protected than all guys testing before a game compared to the public encounters I mentioned above

It really is sad isn't it this is what the left has been reduced to because they hate the president and hate the economic success that resulted
Yes, the left "hates Trump's economic success" so much that they created a new strain of coronavirus in China and helped cause its spread all over the country all while telling Trump himself to do absolutely nothing to prepare for the onslaught this new virus would bring in attempt to kill Trump's chance at re-election. Also, the 100,000+ deaths in 4 months that have occurred in the U.S. are all an illusion by the left in order to justify keeping the economy shut down and hurt Trump even more. Clearly this isn't just schizo-level paranoia on the part of conservatards. This is a very real plan on the part of evil liberals to hurt our wonderful President, who just a few months ago had a brilliant theory on how to kill the virus by injecting people with disinfectant spray.

I have heard people over and over again talk about how harmless COVID is for young people and I cannot tell if you people are just stupid or you just want to ignore the real problem with the situation but I will inform you in case you really don't know. The reason young people have to be careful with COVID as well is not because the disease is particularly deadly for most of them but because they can still be carriers of the disease and give it to people who ARE vulnerable.
If only this could be mitigated.

It can be mitigated to a degree but what price do you put on human life? How few deaths in your opinion warrants re-opening the economy? How can the "pro-life" party say "well at least only a couple thousand old people will die so let's open shxt up!"?

Landmanner, the already microscopic death rate in your parish is even lower than that. Undoubtedly your parish has had PLENTY of unreported cases and recoveries that aren't part of the mortality rate formula.

If my son was athletic enough to be a d-1 football player and didn’t have any underlying conditions I would call him a pussy for not playing

quote:What would you say if he did have an underlying condition, like morbid obesity? There are some really athletic but really fat kids on the team. What would you tell Shelvin or Ika if you were his father? What would you say if your son were some flabby 6'0", 300 lb. walk-on OL (which we have plenty of)?

Why isnt the media bombarding us with death numbers like the previous outbreak? All you hear now is the word "cases". Any chance its because the flu season is over?

Someone on the Florida 247 forum claims to have inside info that they're ain't gonna be college sports this fall and it's gonna be announced next week. I've heard the opposite that all the conferences have a plan to play but take it fwiw

Play any day of the week and twice on Sunday. My kid isn’t a pussy

With rare exception at big time football schools, even your big guys are in OUTSTANDING shape. You have your occasional Shelvins from a couple years ago, who are out of shape and flabby, but they are rare. These kids work out and eat very healthy.

I'd be inclined to follow medical professionals advice. I KNOW LSU would make it as safe as possible and I have faith they will. I think it would probably be safe as long as the players stayed away from us old folks.

quote:Most of them don't eat that healthy. Until a couple years ago, the evening snacks at the Cox Center were Domino's pizza and Chick-fil-A, and even the DBs would crush 2-3 sandwiches. They eat (and drink, and smoke) like college kids for the most part.

Even if he's working out and eating healthy, he's still 340 lbs with high body fat. He may he able to expend intense energy in short bursts before sucking on an oxygen mask, but he's not in "OUTSTANDING shape" by any valid measure.
The flabby walk-on linemen are not rare. They are the norm. They are also the scholarship norm at many smaller schools without our quality of nutrition and S&C.
But that doesn't answer the question. What would you do if that were your kid who is chronically and morbidly obese?

If my son was 65 or older with serious health issues I wouldn’t. Other than that there’s no reason not to.
Posted on 7/10/20 at 6:46 pm to JONBURRIS1981
I have a grandson playing high school football and I pray everyday that they will have a season. The risk is extremely low for young healthy people. Keep in mind that there is some risk to almost everything we do. So the answer is -100% yes
