Crazy thought....an actual home and home series against quality OOC opponents in football and baseball.

Partition all other SEC AD's to move the SEC office .... OUT OF ALABAMA..

Move the SEC office to each school, every 4 years.

It's just an office, phones, desk & chairs.

Wow. Way to take one sentence completely out of context. Do I have to explain what out of context means?

How does the meaning of the sentence I quoted change in any way with context? You clearly are trying to say that LSU is the laughing stock of college athletics because of Paul Mainieri. Which is a hilariously dumb notion.

I would work on upgrading our schedules in:
(1) Men's Basketball (play 4-6 of the better OOC programs home-and-away),
(2) Baseball--play only top programs home-anmd-away on weekends in OOC,
(3) Football--play TWO BIg Five conferences teams (or NDame or BYU) annually.

Did you watch the same games that I did Sunnday and Monday night? They were on ESPN 3. LSU vs Houston. We were in gold tops and white pants and Houston was in red tops and white pants.

I actually felt bad for our beloved Tiger's and our Fans. I don't know a single LSU Fan who thought that was anything less than pathetic. Sorry if you and I don't run in the same Tiger circles, but it is what it is. Peace.

That by no circumstance means we are the laughing stock of collegiate athletics. I'm not sure I have ever heard anything more hyperbolic in my life.

You're a horrible poster and epitomize what's wrong with some of our fanbase. You have no concept of the dynamics that go into a great athletic program.

Would some of you suggest actually firing Paul Maineri for over-thinking the 8th on Sunday? We would be the laughing stock of collegiate athletics

@Tigerbait2010 This is "your" original quote from page one, first post of this thread. You set the tone.

quote:

I'm not sure I have ever heard anything more hyperbolic in my life.

Really?

By hyperbolic, are your referring to when you first introduced the concept that we would be the laughing stock of collegiate athletics to this board or when I responded to your original and hyperbolic statement with hyperbolics.

So you are a genius and understand the complexities of a college athletic program when you suggest we would be a laughing stock of collegiate athletics and when I, in response to you, suggest the same, I am a horrible poster?

Wow.

I may have posted out of emotions over our recent losses, which we should have and could have won, but my heart is still with the Tigers.

We would be the laughing stock of collegiate baseball IF we fired our coach after a 47 win season. As things stand after this season we are nowhere near being a laughing stock. I'd venture to say that probably all but about 18 teams wished they had a season as good as ours.

When we got together for the Big Game Monday night there were at least a dozen trucks and cars at the house, ESPN 3 on the big screen, even a few LSU tattoos to be found. Die hard LSU Fans ready for a good fight by the Tigers. By the end of that game, the statements being hurled at the TV screen and at each other about the baseball program were real, heart felt, and raw. 95 percent of which would not be appropriate for this or any sports board. No Sunshine Pumpers in that group, just real fans with unedited opinions.

So fans who care deeply about the baseball program were overreacting in the face of an admittedly frustrating postseason loss?

Am I happy we lost a regional? Of course not! Do I agree with all the pitching decisions against Houston? No! But the thing is, it's easy to get on the Rant or talk among friends and say "We should fire CPM, he sucks." You don't have any consequences for your opinion. But if you had all the responsibilities of LSU's athletic director, and your decisions carried wide-ranging consequences for years to come, I think you would consider your options a LOT more carefully. Baseball can be such a crapshoot nowadays, as witnessed by all the national seeds who lost their regionals. We made it to Omaha just LAST YEAR, and overachieved this year by winning the SEC tournament and getting a national seed when everyone was wondering if we'd even host a regional beforehand. Would you give all that up, fire a national championship coach, and risk someone else if you actually had to make the call and the new coach was on your head?

Well put CheerWhine. I admit, I am overreacting and am frustrated with the way things turned out. It's just the Rant. The AD has a lot on his plate. We will still pull for the Tigers no matter who is coaching. The current baseball coaching staff has just given us so much to bitch about this year.

I support a head coaching change for the LSU baseball program. I've defended the guy against family and friends for years but after some comments this season and then the game last night where he looked like the furthest thing from a leader, I'm done. Hope the powers that be realize he's not the coach we need to lead our program anymore.

Name a baseball program who has had a better past 7 years than LSU.

I'm not questioning your fanhood.

Who would be the laughing stock of spring sports for the spring season assuming we did that? Firing a coach who's 103-27 with back-to-back SEC titles. Jesus.

I'm not saying I am some AD guru who has all the answers to the ultimate athletic department. All I'm saying is that Joe Alleva would be scrutinized and harassed by the national media if we were to for whatever insane reason fire Maineri. He would be hired within 3 days by a big time program.

I also made it clear in my first post that I am pretty pissed Maineri is notorious for overthinking things, but that isn't cause to fire the guy. I also made it clear that despite our success with hitting, I am pretty pissed Maineri hired his godson considering we have the biggest budget in college baseball. nepotism doesn't mean immediate termination, because our bats really produced for the majority of the season.

Also, what in the hell did some of you expect from this year's team? Going in we only had one sure-fire weekend starter, 2 of our best pitchers were out for the year, and we lost a ton of hitting. The regional final sucked, but 46 wins and an SEC title isn't exactly catastrophic
