If we would've fired Miles, do we still have #1 class?

I don't think we're even in the top 25.

Depends on who we replaced him with

nope...his recruiting has always been on point....Coach O is huge too.

Hell no! The rant doesn't believe it but recruits absolutely love Les Miles. Multiple recruits said they would have looked around had Les been fired. The fact that we lost Frank Wilson and kept every commit further proves the love for Les

probably not #1
but we would have still finished in the top 25 with a good hire
probably in the 10-15 range

Miles is here to bring in this class. Miles gone would have destroyed this class.

Odds are the offense would improve with him gone too. I would've taken that chance.

Big difference from a top 3 recruiting class to a 10-15 recruiting class. This is why i thought getting rid of Miles would have been a mistake. They needed this class this year to be special considering they will probably be losing a few players next year to the draft.

If CLM had left, so would more than a few of his staff, so no way in hell.

I doubt it. But it would have been worth it.

Maybe not this year. Always depends on the popularity and personality of the guy following him.
CLM does have a good name in the college football community overall. We take as good or better name and winner to do it.

If they replaced him with Jimbo, which i believe was the only person they would have fired him for and the only acceptable one for the fans, the class would still probably end up top 5. You go get a Tom Herman, Kirby Smart, or someone like that they could fall out of top ten easy.

Agree, Herman I disagree, Smart I agree.

Highly unlikely the juniors stay without Miles.

According to some posters on here top recruits are lined up for the privilege of playing at LSU. The place recruits itself.
Of course reality is otherwise and to answer your question no. In fact, this class ending up as great as it is speaks more about Miles recovery from the debacle in November than anything else.

Of course not.
U can bash Miles' lack of Qb play and if u must go back 3-4 years, his time management. You can even complain about the way he speaks to the media, but he is the best closer in the business on the recruiting trail. LSU wouldve done "OK" with another big time Coaching hire, but it wouldnt be this good.
A coach like Jimbo Fisher, that sits in one of the best recruiting areas in all of college football can barely break the top 5 with Florida and Miami in influx.
He'll be in trouble after this year if he lets the likes of 3-9 Georgia Tech beat him again in the weak ACC.
Urban Meyer spent alot of time and energy and had an excellent situation for Lawrence but in the end, he stood no chance against Miles. I doubt if he ever tries that again on one of Louisiana's best.
