Seriously, it amazes me that a coach who was almost fired can turn around and put together this class. It's ridiculous.

it amazes you that a coach who has long been regarded as an excellent recruiter excels at recruiting?

are you amazed by shiny things that make loud noises as well?

You don't understand how recruiting works apparently or you are just not very bright.

Wouldn't be surprised if he had a solid class but a potential lame duck coach landing the #1 class, ya that's surprising. Look at all the problems with A&M's roster and West Virginia is getting out recruited by freaking Vandy and Texas Tech.

God bless the internet.

Depends on who we replaced him with

No really, This:

Aranda and this defensive recruiting haul with current roster depth on defense is all setting up so nicely for changes needed after next season to improve the passing game.

This is why i thought getting rid of Miles would have been a mistake.

most of the smart people on this board who wanted to keep Les shared a similar line of thinking.

well, top QB Jacob Eason committed to UGA when Richt was there, and kept his commitment after Richt was fired, with a completely new coaching staff coming in (and unproven HC Kirby Smart).

So relax, we would've been fine.

Besides, if you believe (as I do) that Miles isn't the right guy anymore, then you have to risk a little potential short term pain for long term gain. If you're scared to do that, you'll always be paralyzed.

If we lose any recruits before signing day its most likely other coaches selling the uncertainty of Miles' job. This has always been a big reason I wasn't ready to let Miles go just for sake of change. He's about to have the best 3 cycle stretch in the history of the program.

This is going to rival the 09-11 stretch that led to 13-1 sec champions.

probably not #1

but we would have still finished in the top 25 with a good hire

probably in the 10-15 range

Right

And there is a pretty substantial difference between #1 and #15

Not even close top top 25 IMO.

We wouldve lost most of our coaches and probably wouldve promoted BDP to HC if he stuck around

If Jimbo was hired and Coach O retained, I think LSU never misses a beat.

Getting top players and coaching them so you win titles are 2 different things . So let's believe all these kids are coming just because of miles . Let's see what he does with them?

Jumbo was never coming here. The class would not have been close to this one. Now if you want to discuss whether we could have more production with less talent but a different coach that's another story. I would disagree but that is legitimate argument.

apparently you are the one who does not understand recruiting. it is has been well documented that LSU is the fantastic beneficiary of being in a talent rich state (especially given that it a state with a population slightly over 4,000,000, which is roughly the population of the greater Houston metroplex, but I digress) with very little to no in state competition.

I know LSU fans are used to concocting stories about how the deck is not stacked in their favor, but LSU has a massive advantage in this regard over most other state schools.

Almost definitely the answer is no.

With that said, he had better translate the recruiting success and returning players and everything that is going our way into an SEC championship season at the very least this year. Otherwise we are just an 8-4, 9-3 team every year with top 5 recruiting classes.

Kirby Smart is doing pretty good at Georgia. Isn't it basically the same situation that was going to happen at LSU?
