If we run the table and win the SEC Championship

Would a 2 loss SEC champion make it into the playoff?

Of course. Without a doubt.

There's optimism and then there's delusion.

Scott Woodward's raise and extension that is currently on the table may be premature.

The better question is how much we win the NC game by.

Why do you do this to yourself? You know you’re just calling out the Optimism Police, right? They are gonna show up in force ti tell you how foolish you are to raise your hopes and raise your expectations for the tigers this season. It’s too soon, they’ll tell you. It’s a process and we should all be pleased as punch to find ourselves in the very precipice of bowl eligibility. We should all be ecstatic just to finish 8-4 and why would we even dare to think of anything more?

Depends on everyone else at that point. But don't let the rest of these guys dampen your enthusiasm.

I hate these posts.
Not because I don’t like optimism, but because these people will be the first to sky scream if we lose Saturday.
It’s been a fairly good season and 8-4 is the goal. Anything else is lagniappe.

It will be a different set of people that will scream and cry if we lose.
Let me ask you this:
1) do you think we will win Saturday?
2) if so, is 8-4 still the goal for the season?

I honestly don't think we'll run the table. There's one or two (or three) losses in there, I suspect. Almost certainly Bama. And I really, really doubt we beat Tennessee or Georgia even if we get to the SEC championship.
...but.
I think it's reasonable to say "it's possible". Not likely, but possible. I won't be screaming at the world if it doesn't happen.
That all said, IF we did win out, which includes a win over Tennessee or Georgia, then yeah I think it would be likely we'd get into the playoffs as a 4.
But that's a BIG if.

Nah. You definitely have outliers on both sides (100% positive or 100% negative) who just disappear when things are going well/poorly. But there’s a huge contingent that is completely bipolar and gets caught up in the moment no matter what.

If Ole Miss, Arky, aTm, and Bama were all toss up games (50% chance) we would have a 94% chance to lose at least one, and only a 6% chance to run the table. In reality, we have one of the hardest (if not the hardest) remaining schedules in the country.
It’s just a kind of silly thing to speculate about when we are 5-2 with the most difficult part of our schedule still in front of us.
