Tigers will win 5 of 8 in the remainder of the regular season, then win one , maybe two in the SEC tourney and receive an NIT bid,

It’s fashionable to rip on the NIT because it doesn’t mean much anymore, but it was the first national postseason tournament. And for a rebuilding program, it’s valuable March playing experience for younger players.

We won't beat the Gators on the road, but ... I second that emotion. Frick Florida

We will win more than 1 more, probably our last 3 more will be wins with a reasonable chance we win the last 4.

But I hope tonight is a win, that makes 5 more a bit more likely.

I went down a rabbit hole and looked up LSU's losses this season with the NET ranking of the opponent and the Quadrant of the loss. 4 losses to top 10 NET teams, 3 more to top 40 NET. 7 of 11 Losses to teams we "should have" lost to. Nichols was an awful loss. Georgia away by 2 and A&M at home by 4 were also heartbreaking and disappointing.

All of our losses in order by date

Nicholls - NET 264 - 2 Point Q4 Home Loss

Dayton - NET 18 - 3 Point Q1 Neutral Site Loss

Syracuse - NET 90 - 23 Point Q2 Away Loss

Kansas St. - NET 77 - 15 Point Q3 Home Loss

Texas - NET 33 - 11 Point Q1 Neutral Site Loss

Auburn - NET 7 - 15 Point Q1 Away Loss

Texas A&M - NET 37 - 4 Point Q2 Home Loss

Georgia - NET 95 - 2 Point Q2 Away Loss

Alabama - NET 5 - 21 Point Q1 Away Loss

Tennessee - NET 6 - 20 Point Q1 Away Loss

Alabama - NET 5 - 17 Point Q1 Home Loss

Our 3 best wins are as follows

Texas A&M - NET 37 - 15 Point Q1 Away Win

Ole Miss - NET 58 - 9 Point Q2 Home Win

North Texas - NET 78 - 4 Point Q2 Neutral Site Win

For anyone wondering, here are how you determine a game's quadrant

Quadrant 1: Home 1-30, Neutral 1-50, Away 1-75.

Quadrant 2: Home 31-75, Neutral 51-100, Away 76-135.

Quadrant 3: Home 76-160, Neutral 101-200, Away 135-240.

Quadrant 4: Home 161-353, Neutral 201-353, Away 241-353.

ETA: Not likely to beat florida, especially on the road.

Here are the net ranking for our future opponents.

Florida 31

South Carolina 45

Kentucky 25

Mississippi St. 36

Georgia 95

Vanderbilt 238

Arkansas 128

Missouri 153

I hope we win tonight too, but I would absolutely take action on LSU winning 5 more regular season games.

As in you think they won't if they win tonight or they will regardless of the outcome tonight? I wouldn't take action on anything with this team.

I do like them better now than I did early in the season. But still, they have no identity that I can make out and are not consistent.

ETA: I do think they win the last 4 it's just a matter of if they can steal one of the next 4. I think Miss St. is the likely one and that would end with LSU closing the regular season on a 5 game winning streak.

I don’t objectively think we win 5 of the remaining 8 SEC games, which includes tonight. We could be favorites in 4? But still the room for error is very small here.

If I separate my hopes from my rational expectations, I think 3 is almost a given, 4 is a likelihood, and 5 is unlikely but possible. And the team is inconsistent enough that even the given 3 gets dicey if we lose the next 5 making it a 7-game losing streak and 9 of the last 10 as losses. Then it feels like a collapse even if only one of those 9 losses might have been an expected win in terms of the relative NET rankings

More likely LSU loses 6 of the next 8. That follows LSU already having lost 6 of the last 8. 4-12 is not exactly ending the regular season on a roll.

I'm just happy we've won 5 in a row in football. Never thought I would see that.

It is pretty sad that in a thread wanting to win one against Florida because F Florida you would be such a downer. You must be great at parties...
