Was to throw Wade under the bus to appease the NCAA and salvage football. But Wade isn't cooperating. And I don't blame him.

This makes no sense.
The NCAA would be aware of both these issues. One being, the OLOL issue and two being the Wade pay to play issue.
The NCAA isn't turning a blind eye to one of the issues since we punished for the other?!?!

I like the theory from a purely conspiratorial and entertainment standpoint. Let's run with it.

If the OLOL thing has legs, it's going to take more than firing Wade to get out of the shite fountain the NCAA will be spraying our way.

LOL if the NCAA was in the business of allowing schools to sacrifice different sports if another sport gets in trouble, it would be a massive shite show.
If that was the case I would have no problem sacrificing LSU women's basketball in order to save men's BB and FB

Now, i may agree with you, if you were saying we are being much stricter on Wade due to the circumstances of the OLOL issue.
I think LSU is trying to show institutional control right now.
If the OLOL issue was non existent, the administration probably wouldn't be as involved in this mess.

Tinfoil ON
Let's say they find out OLOL did pay a set amount to players but don't know who specifically. Enter Wade and the Wiretaps. LSU admin could say he went rogue and gave all the cash to basketball players. Football is saved.
And like most conspiracies this one has a fatal flaw: it requires the LSU admins to be thinking ahead

If it's true, LSU is looking at LOIC which is what kills programs. The basketball thing is just a component.

The OLOL situation has nothing to do with Wade. By all accounts, the OLOL issue has to do with LSU football.
LSU shouldn't treat/handle the Will Wade situation any differently than they would if the OLOL issue was non-existent.

i know what OLOL stands for, but what is the “thing” people here keep referencing?

In my humble opinion, if they are able to tie the OLOL scandal to LSU, any current posturing by the administration is pointless.
LSU's Board of Supervisors are appointed by the Governor, and confirmed by the state Senate. There are a ton of political tie-ins between LSU and state government at the highest level.
When Louisiana did away with the charity hospital system, OLOL stepped in and took over indigent care and all the healthcare for prisoners, etc. Everything the State previously was responsible for. There's a ton of wheeling and dealing between the State and OLOL at the highest levels, too.
Let's acknowledge that we don't live in an ideal fairytale world, and that LSU competes with other programs on basically a level field- in other words, we match offers for top recruits in a multi million dollar business.
The problem that seems to be surfacing is that there isn't sufficient layers of separation in the payouts... that if you dig in, you might could actually trace the funding back to the actual BOS or very close.
That isn't "lack of institutional control", it's actually "institutional cheating".

The LSU administration is more corrupt than the Clintons.

Copied this from a post on another thread that will shed some light for you...
The Cliff of the OLOL thing:
Facts:
1. John Paul Funes headed up the fundraising arm of the Our Lady of the Lake Hospital (a charity named Our Lady of the Lake Foundation) for about 10 years.
2. OLOL is a big sponsor of LSU Athletics.
3. In November, the OLOL announced that it had fired Funes for a pattern of embezzlement and forgery at OLOL Foundation.
4. Hillar Moore, the Baton Rouge DA, made public comment that the amount was serveral hundred thousand dollars ...however, it appears that this was the findings of 1 annual audit. That did not cover the full span of Funes at OLOL.
5. In Dec. Hillar Moore made a public statement that the US District Attorney was "interested" in the case.
6. In Jan., the Baton Rouge Business Report stated the the Secret Service was assisting the investigating financial fraud aspect of the case.
7. Hillar Moore had gone silent since Dec.
8. The Sheriff office commented this week that they had sopeneaed records but do not expect to get them for several months.
9. OLOL announced on Monday that the internal report on Funes and OLOL Foundation is complete and that they will brief people on it today.
10. Several local news outlets and national reporter started hinting at links between LSU and OLOL Foundation this morning.
Key Questions:
1. Was the money missing from OLOL Foundation used to pay LSU recruits and players?
2. How long has this been going on?
3. Where big LSU donors knowingly give $ to OLOL Foundation and taking tax writeoffs with a wink and a nod?
4. How many people at OLOL were involved?
5. How many at LSU were invovlved?
6. Did the FBI take this case over in Dec?
7. If OLOL Foundation has been shut down as bagman for LSU, where is payroll being met from now?
