If Saban never went to Bama and ended up staying in the NFL or going back to college only to coach in a different conference, would Miles be more appreciated by our fan base? Seems like the only reason Miles isn't liked around here is because of his connection to Saban and all of his success at a major rival.

Thoughts?

yes

they won't admit it, but the answer is 100% yes

Miles has had the misfortune of coaching against one of, if not the GOAT coaches within his same division

obviously. because we'd have won at least one other national championship.. possibly multiple more due to recruiting implications.

Yes, the failure of some of our fans is comparing LSU to Bama, and Miles to Saban. Does any other school in the country pour damn near all of its resources into football like Bama thou? They'll fricking hire Updyke if it meant another title.

This fan base is always comparing LSU to Bama. Even if we had the same results, if Bama didn't have as much success without Saban, we'd feel a lot better. Not to mention without a Saban-coached Bama, we'd have at least one more national title.

If Miles had gotten better QB play during his time here and beaten Saban consistently, he would be thought of as even a greater coach than Saban.

yes, because Miles would have at least 1 more championship, maybe 2.

Very much so.

Miles is compared to Saban in everything he does, from recruiting to in game coaching.

No Saban in the division and Mile's is much more appreciated and respected.

This is the real reason. We would have won more games, games that counted, and winning championships would cure all - winning always does.

No.

Miles could run off 3 undefeated seasons in a row and this fan base would still be eating its own week after week, complaining about everything.

Well we may have some of the worst fans in the SEC so they might have still been dissatisfied. Some Saban loving fans are like the drunk guy at the bar, wallowing in self-pity, moaning about how much better his life would be if his ex-wife had only stayed with him. Pitiful.

Independent of Alabama's success, the fact that the coaches and the team have recently decided to roll over and be Saban's little pets certainly hasn't helped. We were up 3-2 on Saban as of three years ago. How do you go on a four game slide, including two close losses in Tiger Stadium, after that.

I get salty just thinking about it.

Obviously...for two reasons.

First, Saban has been better than anyone in the country, and honestly, better than any college coach that I can even think of, during this run at BAMA. It doesn't matter how good our run has been, and it's been the best run in our program's history, it still pales in comparison to what BAMA has done. So...that sucks. some can;t get past this and appreciate what we have. Greener grass and what not...

Second...and this is the one that REALLY stings, is that the guy who has orchestrated the run of a lifetime at BAMA was our guy! No...he wasn;t this good while he was here, and MAYBE if he had stayed he would have been...but to see our former guy at a hated rival doing the unprecedented is really hard to take for many. It's like having been married to a VERY beautiful woman only to have her leave you amicably, then show up 2 years later down the street married to the frick nut you hate...but this time she's a fricking supermodel who's goal in life is to make your life worse. It's suicide inducing for many of our fans. And even though our new wife is beautiful and has been great to us, many treat her like shite because they're still sporting the hard-on for the count down the street.

Nothing about Saban at BAMA was ever going to be good for us...which is why I hated the little fricker from the minute he took the god damn job.

Without question. Bama has been our sole nemeses and people still pull for them for the sake of the SEC. Baffling.

Without question. LSU would win it in 2011 and had a great chance at playing for it all in 2012.
