Saban wasnt the best coach in the country when he was at LSU, but he is now at Alabama. Les wasn't the best coach in the country when he was at Oklahoma State or at LSU. It will take O an SEC and National Championship for him to be even talked about in the same breath with those two great LSU coaches.

O is like a two year old walking in his dad's shoes as far as LSU coaching success.

Ricky has been due a timeout for some time now..... he must have cluttered up a game thread with his Miles worship babble.... I have been waiting for him to come back as an alter.... it was just a matter of time....

will tell you he’s the worst coach in the history of sports. They also like to makeup rumors and stories about him that are totally false. These people are the scum of the sports world.

What he was and is:

Worse coach in Old Miss history who couldn't even get a DC position for ten years after that fricking stink bomb of a performance. In less than two years as acting and head coach at LSU he has five defeats with two of those being against teams we 100% were better than, one the worst defeat in series history , and two against Alabama where we managed a fricking whopping ten points.

That's not anyone being mean or unfair to O. That's his fricking record. Deal with it and stop acting as if anyone not happy with it has no reason to be disappointed with this whole shite show Alleva laid on LSU.

So 9-3 his last season at LSU. Explain.

Again it’s clear with questions like this you are trying to paint people into a corner so you can say GOTCHA! it’s pointless and stupid, not all seasons are the same and you’ve proven in this thread you are not to bright, but I’ll answer:

2004 was off a National Title it was Saban’s 5th year but as was noted he took over a program in horrible shape with subpar facilities. After the NC several key players left early the 03 and 04 classes were epic and laid the foundation for the 05-07 run but was still young. The 3 loses were: on the road to Auburn who went 13-0 won the SEC and finished #2. At Georgia who went 10-2 and finished #6 and in the bowl game (which frankly he should not have been allowed to coach)to Iowa who finished #8 on a Hail Mary. All with as you pointed out was a questionable starter at QB.

That’s different than losing to Troy

Comparing Ed O to Coach Saban in anything other than height, weight and internal happiness makes little sense for O. How many times has Ed beat Nick? Saban is the best college football coach since Coach Bryant.

Your comparison is hollow. We need more quality data. If we actually win a championship with O then I will jump on your comparisons bandwagon.

This is delusional. One season, even a great one, does not equal a “great coach”.

LSU finished #4 in 1961 Dietzel’s last season. Between that and 2003 we had 1 top 5 finish that was 1987 Mike Archer

You are right about this but wrong about the comparison. Saban took about the 30th best program and built it into the best in about four years. You can’t compare his win totals to Orgeron or Miles, both of whom took over top 5 talent and a top program.

Saban’s last year was a throw away, as he stopped working and focused on his next job. That’s why Miles’ first recruiting class was only 13 players.

Wtf does what he did at a program in shambles over a decade ago have to do with what he’s doing at LSU? That is the most ignorant anti-O narrative of them all. Ogeron has a better win pct vs top 10 teams at LSU than Jim Harbaugh does at Michigan he’s 5-3 vs ranked teams at LSU you people don’t have a clue what you’re talking about. Ogeron is 13-5 at LSU that’s a .722 win pct that’s better than Sabans win pct, he needs more accomplishments to have his resume elevated of course but to keep knocking him and devaluing any success he has is an agenda driven, double statndard and ignorant position to take.

Uh, no, O is 7-3 at LSU. Interim doesn't count, and you know that.

And good god, Harbaugh was a massive success at San Diego and Stanford before taking over a wreck at Michigan, which he immediately turned around.

Putting O in the same sentence as Harbaugh and Saban is a complete joke.

You really are the King of Irony

Speaking of narratives, Ole Miss was 10-3 and 7-1 in SEC, which was I believe their best SEC record since the division format was created, just 2 years before O was hired, they of course won 9 and 10 in the 2 years after he was fired. So the only time they were “in shambles” was when O was coaching them. I’m sorry that his god awful record as a HC doesn’t fit your narrative but it is a fact.

Now, you are right it doesn’t really have anything to do with what he is presently doing, but as we saw earlier this year the freaking AD had to intervene to keep things from imploding. To his credit O rebounded doing what he did best as a IHC here and at USC which is take out the trash, beating the teams he should and losing to the 1 he should lose to with 1 nice win vs Auburn and to his credit there he rallied the team after falling behind early.

Going forward we’ll see, but what I’ve serm so far doesn’t change my mind on the hire.
