If Nuss had gone pro, then LSU took Mateer...

Interesting hypothetical... So Nuss would've gotten a high-draft position, good money, the Tigers would have almost certainly won a few more games with a healthy & mobile QB -
So if we're 10-2 and in the playoffs, Bama or Okla are out at 9-3, or both are out and Vandy is in, depending on which two of those three we beat...
Brian Kelly is off the hot seat and not quite so reviled, (not such an embarrassing loss to Tx A&M), Kiffin still at Ole Miss, Nuss doesn't get the abdominal injury, Gov Jethro Landry doesn't meddle, Sumrall goes to Florida but much sooner in the coaching carousel, causing a ripple effect in all the coaching hires, Frank Wilson stays, MAYBE Baker takes Tulane job, the transfers and early signees lists change etc, etc....
The ramifications of the ripple effect are complex and fascinating.... Would, all things considered, Tiger fans be happy to be in the playoffs, and better off- or was the major disappointment season and wrecking of Nuss's potential career worth it to get rid of what would've been a play-off coach?
And how far in the playoffs would a 10-2 LSU team with that defense and Mateer at QB make it?

In this scenario LSU would be stuck in no man’s land where you make the playoffs but have no shot of actually winning it, and even worse we’d still have BK running the show. I’d rather things go how they went, get LK and see if he can win something.

have you not watched him play this year. Both he and Nuss were hurt, and played like it. Apparently you didn't watch the LSU/OU game this year. Two ugly offenses, and that wasn't the first time for OU...same when they played Texas and OM, and even when they beat bama, they had 200 yards of total offense, but they had a pick 6 off of bama, and bama had 2 more turnovers. You think that QB was going to perform well behind our OL and scheme? LOL
