Is it unquestionably the premier college football program in America??

- 3 BCS titles
- A damn near unmatched win/loss record
- One bowl loss for CLM and Nick Saban (I believe) each.
- Top 5 recruiting class every year
- Top-ranked atmosphere for home games
- Mostly, and I stress mostly, unblemished re: NCAA issues

What schools are out there that can argue for themselves against LSU?

Nick lost to Texas and Iowa.

I think LSU is arguably the premier program of the last 10 years, what with USC's downfall and Oklahoma and Ohio State's easier schedules and failure to win more than one BCS title each. Bama is good but only just returning to form in the last 3 years.

Agreed, if you look at the schools that were relevant and in the title hunt in the early 2000's such as Texas, Miami, Ohio State, Oklahoma, USC, Florida State and Florida really only Oklahoma is still relevant and playing for titles. While those schools such as Florida, OU, Ohio State, and Texas have had a lot of success, they are having some rough down years. LSU has stayed very competitive and relevant for over a decade.

Actually, the only team that can compete with LSU for best program in the past 10 years is UF.

USC was neck and neck with LSU up till their complete implosion a few years back.

Forget about Florida? They come the closest to LSU IMO.

We self-report any issues.

Alabama covers everything up and hands out cash and Escalades.

LSU is currently 3rd in wins since 2000 if you just look at BCS teams behind OU and Texas.

We're in the conversation. And would be the greatest season in LSU history, imv. But lets not jinx the Tigers. A lot can and will happen before this thing is over. History should tell us this.

Keeping fingers crossed.

Threads like this are bad luck. The Tigers still have ALOT of work to do. Ark is still ahead and if we get passed them, then the SECCG. If we get passed that, then BCS. Remember we were ranked #1 in 07, when KY beat us and nobody was expecting that. Don't count the chickens!

'95 Nebraska played five straight home games at one point, gave up 21 or more points 6 times, played 4 ranked opponents, and scored 70+ twice.
Good job of running up the score.

'01 Miami played five ranked opponents, allowed 21 points or more three times.

theyve had 4 5 loss seasons and weve never been as uncompetitive as they are this year (in this time frame)

A quibble: not all LSU recruiting classes were top 5 in the past 10 years. Two were not even in the top 10, depending on which service you are talking about.

LSU is in the upper echelon, along with Alabama, Florida, USCw, Texas, Oklahoma and THE Ohio State.

All those have had great programs the past 10 years.

Nick didn't coach in the Iowa loss yeah he was on the sidelines, but he was too worried about going to miami to bother coaching that game.

There is no such thing as 'luck' ('random chance' yes, but 'luck' no). Our Tigers are in control of their destiny and they are and will make proud.
p.s. - 'past' not 'passed'
