In the last 20 years, I believe you will find Oregon is 3-1 against the SEC with Auburn being the only loss.

It's better than that. Oregon is undefeated during the regular season vs SEC teams since 1977. That's 33 seasons.

Minor detail: After playing Georgia and LSU in 1977 we didn't have another SEC team on the schedule until 2002. That's mostly because Oregon stopped scheduling paycheck games.

Still, 3-1 is 3-1.

33 seasons, but only four games. LSU is 13-3 vs the Pac, including 2-1 vs Oregon. We haven't lost to a team from the Pac since 1979 to USC, and we got the return match over the Trojans in 1984 23-3.

Arizona: 3-0
Arizona State: 1-0
Oregon: 2-1
Oregon State: 4-0
USC: 1-1
Stanford: 0-1
Washington: 2-0

Your little brother was the closest match during that time, although the Arizona State game in Tempe post-Katrina was a good game as well.

Edit: BTW the last time we played, the Tigers beat the Ducks, 56-17, at Tiger Stadium in 1977.

I'm calling for Oregon to lose two: LSU at Dallas and at Stanford. I like the Cardinal to win the Pac 12. Even if Oregon would just lose to LSU, I feel the voters would give another team the edge by the end of the year given Oregon's previous loss to Auburn.

BTW: I love the Pac 12 championship being played at the most deserving school. I'm a bit tired of LSU having to play Georgia for the SEC in the state of Georgia. I'd like to see another SEC come down to New Orleans and have to play LSU....much like 2011's BCS loser will have to do.

Stanford, Arizona, hell even a 1 loss Oregon can make up a lot of ground starting out the season in the top 5.

ASU will have a better team than UA.

I'd agree that LSU will be a challenge as will Stanford. With Crowton gone, LSU has to be better on offense, question is will they be better the first game of the season or will it take a couple games to start hitting on all cylinders? As for Stanford, they have a new Head Coach in David Shaw, granted he's being promoted from OC. And he's done a great job at Stanford. I'm just not sure how all that will translate in success the first season, could be great, could be bust. Then toss in that both are road games and yea, I'm worried.

You made some good points, GoDucks. I actually think Oregon is going to be one of the best teams in the nation, and LSU is in for a battle. I love that LSU will start the season in the best OOC game of the year.

Either way, the team that loses is still in the BCS race. The season is way to long to and too much can happen to write either of these teams off.

I agree, and I like the concept of a tough first game as well.

Lots of good fans on this sight. Only word of caution is that as we get closer to game time, I'd expect some new "we are better than you" fans to start showing up. Probably from both schools. It's just the way things are in life.

I'll be honest, I hate the fact that we have to play you guys for the first game of the year. Like you mentioned, we don't really know how good our offense will be or how long it will take to hit it on all cylinders. I would rather play you guys at Week 3 or 4. But, the schedule is set and it's way too late to change anything so it should be a very interesting match up.

And no. Stanford could easily be better than Oregon.

Honestly, I agree. After seeing how Auburn's D handled Oregon it makes me feel a lot better. (Granted they had Fairly up the middle.)

I'm much more worried about Stanford. If it wasn't for Oklahoma's cake walk schedule, I'd have Stanford almost pencilled in for the NC to face the SEC champ.
