This is not last year or any of the previous years. 2019 Tigers are a threat to Alabama unlike any previous match ups. That being said, 11-1 with a Heisman candidate and one of the most prolific offenses in College Football is a great season and great progress.

If I recall, everyone said 11-1 and a NY6 or CFP birth was the basement so no, would not be a letdown.

If we lose a competitive game and bama goes on to win the sec we will make the playoffs.

Nope. As long as the loser of this game looks competitive, if that is their only loss they will make it to the playoff

agree 100%... the oklahoma loss opened the door... and I honestly think Clemson will get upset... maybe even ohio state... IF harbough goes into that game saying "frick it" lets do it... Michigan could beat them..

Nobody is beating Ohio St this year.

If its a close game versus Bama, then no the season is not a disappointment. However, I think we get blown out so yes the season will be a huge letdown.

I still think 2 SEC teams is a long shot. Clemson and either Ohio State or Penn State are getting in. And of course the SEC champ.

Oregon's only loss is a very close one to Auburn, and their schedule is very favorable from here on. And I think the committee will feel pressure to invite a 12-1 PAC-12 champ.

Getting 2 teams from the SEC means 2 Power 5 conf champs are left out. If OU blows doors from here on, and wins the Big 12 decisively, they've got a good argument too (depending on how K State finishes the season).

not if Bama barely beats us... I think LSU's resume is still better than anyone of those... I think at the end its LSU/Bama/Clemson/Ohio State...

Of course it would be a letdown. It would still be a great season, but even with a loss to #1 Alabama, I still think LSU would be one of the 4 best teams in the country, have probably the best or 2nd best resume, and meet all criteria established to make it into the playoffs.

Sure, you pay lip service about winning conferences, but precedent has been set already. Alabama made it in without winning the SEC West, and won it all in 2017; they went in with Georgia, the SEC champ.
And Ohio State went in 2016, INSTEAD OF Penn State, despite Penn State beating them head-to-head to win their division, and then winning the Big 10 title game.

So, given that those 2 teams didn't even win their division, don't give me any crap about conference champs. But then again, Alabama and Ohio State are glamour programs, and I don't think LSU quite is, not nationally. That might be the difference.

Hell no, we beat Florida, all we have to do imo based on preseason, is crush TAMU for like the 10th year in a row, and it’s a success.

Not at all. Losing to Alabama would be par-for-the-course and a let down, but 11-1 doesn't ruin a season. However, I definitely got the impression Saturday the coaching staff, at times, played not to lose instead of playing to win. I don't know if field conditions played a role, but they cannot do this against the Gumps.

if Oregon runs the table and finishes as a 12-1 PAC-12 champ, with their only loss being a nailbiter to a very good Auburn team, the Committee will put them in.

The PAC-12 has been left out the last 2 years. No way to committee snubs a 12-1 Oregon this year. They have a top 20 defense and an NFL QB.

I'm no fan of Oregon, but this is their year to get in, if they run the table from here on. The Big-12 champ would get left out.

The only way the SEC has a chance of getting in two teams is if the Big 12 and Pac 12 champs have two losses.

I don't think I will ever be disappointed with an 11-1 season. Now, LSU may not defeat Bama, but I expect this time for it be competitive for 4 quarters. The last time LSU had a chance to beat Bama with less than 5 minutes in the game was 2014 (we lost in OT). Even in 2016, and game was 0-0 starting the 4th, once the game got to 10-0, midway thru 4th, I new LSU was done. LSU's offense was not capable of coming back from even a 10-0 deficit vs Bama in 2016.

It would be disappointing to lose to Bama again, but 11-1 is still a special season.

What would really hurt in losing is that there is no Joe Burrow on the roster next year and we will probably lose some key juniors to the draft.

I think it’s this year or not for a long time.

I know we are recruiting well, but I really think this is the best look at a championship we’ve had or will have in a while. Have to get it done.

Are we competitive?

That matters a ton.

At some point Orgeron has to win a division title too though.

If the game goes to triple overtime and one team or the other loses on a mandatory two point conversion with a defensive stop at the 6" line, I don't see either team dropping out of the top 3.

Me, though? I might have a heart attack if that happens.
